Today, we honor and thank all the past, present, and future volunteer firefighters who have answered the call to serve our community.

To those who have stood on the front lines, responded in the middle of the night, missed holidays and family moments, faced danger without hesitation, and gave their time, energy, and hearts to help others — 🔥THANK YOU!🔥

To the volunteers who came before us, we honor your legacy.

To those serving today, we appreciate your sacrifice and dedication.
And to those who will answer the call in the future, we thank you for carrying the torch forward.

Volunteer firefighters don't do it for recognition. They do it because 🔥someone has to answer the call.🔥

From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you for your service, your courage, and your commitment to your community. 🔥🚒

Selkirk Fire sends thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Battalion Chief Wayne Brennan of Albany Permanent Professional Firefighters Association Local 2007 as well as the DGS employee severely injured this past week.

Chief Brennan is a 33 year veteran of the Albany Fire Department and suffered severe burns following an explosion at a temporary fuel pump at the DGS Headquarters facility while fueling his vehicle.

Despite his injuries, he was reportedly still able to call in the situation over his department radio, allowing for the quick response of Albany Fire to the scene.Chief Brennan was flown to the Westchester Burn Center for his injuries.

We keep Chief Brennan and the injured DGS employee in our thoughts during this time while they are being treated for their injuries.

Please congratulate Selkirk Firefighter Vincent Cuttle for receiving the award for Firefighter of the Year!

On Tuesday, August 4th at National Night Out, Vinnie received the department award from Chief Tom Neri. Not only is Vinnie a very active firefighter, he wears a few different hats within the department. That coupled with performing life saving measures on civilians in our community this last year is why he was given this award!

Congratulations Vinnie! Thank you for your dedicated service!

Your Selkirk Firefighters as well as firefighters from Delmar Fire Department, Elsmere Fire Dept and the Slingerlands Fire Department continue to respond to calls from yesterday’s severe rain storm. We are here for you 24/7/365! We appreciate the kind words from our Town of Bethlehem, NY leaders!

Yesterday’s rainstorm brought the sound of the fire horns, a reminder of just a fraction of the calls our volunteer firefighters answered. We’re beyond grateful for their dedication and service. Thank you for always showing up for our community.

A big thank you as well to our EMS, Bethlehem Police Department, and Bethlehem DPW and Highway crews.
