Selma & Dallas County Economic Development Authority Executive Director Brenda Tuck attended the Bradley Arant Boult Cummings 11th Annual Economic Development Forum, held August 19–21.

The forum brought together leading economic development professionals from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee for networking, collaboration, and meaningful conversations about the issues affecting communities across the Southeast.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear from industry experts and discuss both the challenges and opportunities facing today’s communities, while sharing ideas and best practices to help strengthen economic development efforts.

We are proud to have Brenda represent our organization and remain committed to building relationships, gaining valuable insights, and bringing innovative ideas back to our community!

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced its first-ever **Critical Suppliers Prize Competition**, offering **up to $20 million in non-dilutive capital** to help small businesses expand domestic manufacturing and strengthen U.S. supply chains.

**Submission Deadline:** August 28, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. ET

**Funding Priorities**
Applicants must support one of the following critical industries:
β€’ Advanced Metals Manufacturing
β€’ Advanced Materials Manufacturing
β€’ Energy Systems, Energetics, and Components

**Who Is Eligible?**
To apply, businesses must:
β€’ Meet the SBA definition of a small business.
β€’ Be organized and have a primary place of business in the United States or its territories.
β€’ Be profitable and demonstrate creditworthiness.
β€’ Be current and in good standing on all federal obligations.
β€’ Be in good standing in their state of organization.
β€’ Demonstrate the ability to deploy awarded funds within six months.
β€’ Show the ability to increase production capacity or improve manufacturing efficiency with measurable supply chain impact.
β€’ Have a senior management team composed entirely of U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents who are at least 18 years old.
