By engaging with experts and peers from across the state, they are exploring innovative strategies to enhance school safety and foster a positive learning environment at Selma High.

Summer break may be in session, but the work doesn't pause for the leaders of the Selma City School District. This morning, principals and central office department heads gathered at Edgewood Elementary School to reflect on the past year and plan for the 2026-2027 school year. The agenda began with Superintendent Dr. David Scott's session on the school system's Strategic Plan, followed by a presentation on Cognia STEM Certification by Anne Williamson, and a Cognia accreditation review by Kristen Dial-Williams.

Selma High and R.B. Hudson STEAM Academy students are diving into an exciting four-day workshop focused on the fundamentals of information technology, cybersecurity, and networking concepts. Under the expert guidance of Marcus Burrell, Robert Skros, and Dimetris Dunklin, these young learners will gain valuable skills that will empower them in today’s digital world. By the end of the week, they will confidently navigate laptops and desktop computers and learn how to create their own cables, setting the stage for a bright future in tech. This is all part of the summer enrichment camp offered by the district.
