🦑 Creating Classroom Magic Through Hands-On Learning!

Today at Selma Elementary, our third grade students brought their study of sea life to real life with a hands-on squid dissection!

As educators, we talk a lot about career-connected learning and helping students discover their passions. Too often, we think those experiences begin in middle school or high school. We would argue they should start much earlier.

Who knows? Maybe today’s experience sparked an interest in marine biology, veterinary medicine, or a career these students haven’t even considered yet.

Students can’t discover a passion for something they’ve never been exposed to.

A huge shoutout to our incredible third grade teachers and the families and volunteers who helped make this experience possible!

At Liberty-Perry, we like to discuss creating magic in our classrooms. Today was a perfect example of what that looks like!

Before Fall Break, the 8th graders got to experience JobSpark with Junior Achievement. Students went to the IN State Fairgrounds and explored careers with hands-on activities from people in the workforce. Check out some of the career experiences in the video attached!

Braves lead the region!❤️🖤

Liberty-Perry’s 2026 ILEARN results placed us #1 in overall math proficiency and #1 in the percentage of students proficient in both English language arts and math among 28 regional school corporations. We also ranked 3rd in overall ELA proficiency.

There’s more to celebrate across the grades: Liberty-Perry ranked first regionally in fourth, seventh, and eighth grade math, and in both ELA and math in sixth and seventh grade.

Our grades 3–8 math proficiency rate was 58.3%, compared with the 42.7% state average. Our 95.3% IREAD proficiency rate also exceeded the state average of 88.7%.

Thank you to our students for their hard work and to the teachers, staff, and families who support them every day. We’re proud of these results and ready to keep building on them. Go Braves!**
