It breaks our heart to report that K9 Sam whom started with the Selmer Police Department first assigned to former Sergeant Josh Gilbert, then former Officer Chloe Swann has passed.

K9 Sam was an asset that could never be replaced and had retired a few years ago with Chloe.

Some people feel that working dogs are another piece of equipment but nothing could be further from the truth. They are just as much part of our family as anything.

You will be missed Sam.

You served the Selmer Police Department well as well as your handlers. You will always be in our hearts. Thank you for your dedication, loyalty, and performance.

The Selmer Police Department has purchased two new patrol vehicles which will be assigned to officers in the upcoming days. The purchase of the vehicles were purchased at No cost to citizens of Selmer or impact to the normal operating budget. The funds used to purchase the vehicles are from the drug fund derived from criminal proceeds forfeited by legal process through the Federal Asset Forfeiture Program. Mayor Smith said “we are grateful for our partnership with the FBI Task Force and the work done to safeguard our community”

We had loads of fun attending the Back to School Bash held at the McNairy County Ag Center last night. There were giveaways, back to school supplies, bounce houses, music and hot dogs. There is really no better sight than seeing a community come together!! Thank you for inviting us and a big thank you to everyone involved who made this happen!! ❤❤❤
