Summer is here! As we all know, Oklahoma's summer temperatures usually reach triple digits. Please be mindful and take safety precautions. Below are some helpful safety tips.

Things to know:
• Stay Hydrated: Drink at least 8 ounces of water every 30 minutes, and avoid drinks with caffeine, sugar, or alcohol, which can lead to dehydration.

• Outdoor Safety: If you must be outside, wear a wide-brimmed hat. Pace yourself, take frequent breaks in the shade, and/or inside.
• Look Out for Others: Frequently check on older adults, young children, individuals with chronic medical conditions, and pets. Ensure animals have ample cool water, access to shade, or if possible, bring animals inside.
• Do not leave pets in your car.

Symptoms of overheating:
• Shortness of breath
• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Confusion
• Chest pains
• Intense thirst
• Weakness
