🚫🔥 **Burn Ban in Effect – Seminole County** 🔥🚫

Seminole County is currently under a **burn ban** due to dry conditions and increased fire. We are asking everyone to do their part to help keep our community safe.

❗ **No outdoor burning allowed**, including:
• Trash burning
• Brush piles
• Campfires (unless in approved, controlled areas if permitted)

With high winds and dry vegetation, fires can spread quickly and become dangerous in a matter of minutes.

We will update the public as conditions change.

Today we’re proud to recognize Seminole Fire Department Captain Jason Hudson and Firefighter Conlan Decker for spending time at Wilson Elementary School reading to the kids in honor of Read Across America.

There’s nothing better than seeing our firefighters in the classroom, encouraging young students to read, learn, and dream big. Moments like this remind us that serving the community goes far beyond emergency calls — it’s about building relationships and investing in the next generation.

Thank you, Captain Hudson and Firefighter Decker, for representing the Seminole Fire Department with pride and for making a positive impact on the students at Wilson Elementary.

In Memory of Retired Fire Chief Howard Allen

Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of Retired Fire Chief Howard Allen of the Seminole Fire Department. Chief Allen dedicated his life to serving this community with integrity, courage, and compassion. He was a leader, a mentor, and a true example of what it means to serve others.

His impact on Seminole Fire and on the countless lives he touched will never be forgotten. Chief Allen helped shape the department into what it is today, and his legacy will live on through every firefighter who had the honor of learning from him.

Please keep his family, friends, and the entire Seminole Fire Department family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Thank you, Chief Allen, for a lifetime of service. We’ll take it from here.

🚫💦 POOL FILL REQUESTS 💦🚫

We’ve received several inquiries lately about filling up swimming pools, so we want to take a moment to explain why Seminole Fire Department does not provide this service.

While we’re always happy to support our community, our primary mission is public safety and emergency response. Using fire department resources such as water, trucks, and personnel to fill private swimming pools can:

✅ Take equipment out of service that may be needed for an emergency
✅ Create unnecessary wear and tear on fire apparatus
✅ Compromise water availability for fire protection
✅ Violate local utility or water use regulations

We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to contact your local water provider or a private water hauling service if you need assistance with filling your pool.

Thank you for your continued support!

Seminole Fire Department: Hydrant Painting in Progress!
You may have seen our crews out and about painting fire hydrants around the city—there’s more to it than just a fresh coat of paint!

Each color on a fire hydrant has a specific purpose. It’s not about aesthetics—it’s about safety and efficiency. The colors indicate the water flow rate available from that hydrant, which helps our firefighters make quick decisions during emergencies.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what the colors mean:
• Blue: 1500+ GPM (Excellent flow)
• Green: 1000–1499 GPM (Good flow)
• Orange: 500–999 GPM (Fair flow)
• Red: Below 500 GPM (Limited flow)

By painting hydrants according to these standards, we’re ensuring our crews have the information they need to respond quickly and effectively in critical moments.

Thanks for your support as we work to keep Seminole safe and prepared!
