We’re more than an ambulance.

Mobile County EMS is a 911 response system serving communities across more than 1,400 square miles of Mobile County. From Dauphin Island and Bayou La Batre to Semmes, Citronelle, Saraland, Prichard and communities throughout the county outside the City of Mobile, our crews are ready to respond when help is needed.

Our role goes beyond emergency response, too. MCEMS also provides continuing education, ALS and BLS classes for medics, nurses, doctors and members of the general public.

What we do not provide are pre-arranged transports to locations other than the emergency room. Our focus is emergency care, 911 response and helping strengthen emergency medical education throughout our community.

We’re proud to be one of the largest 911 services in the Gulf Coast region and even prouder to serve the people who call Mobile County home.

Back-to-school season also means back to the field!

Whether your child is playing under the Friday night lights, heading to practice after school or just running around outside, a few simple precautions can help keep them safe.

✅ Keep kids hydrated before, during and after activity
✅ Watch for signs of overheating, including dizziness, nausea, headache or confusion
✅ Make sure helmets and protective equipment fit properly
✅ Encourage kids to speak up about pain, injuries or not feeling well
✅ Never ignore signs of a possible concussion
✅ Teach kids to stay alert around parking lots, roadways and moving vehicles

From the classroom to the playing field, Mobile County EMS wants families to have a safe and healthy school year.

When you call 911, there are a few simple things you can do to help Mobile County EMS reach the patient and begin care as quickly as possible.

While help is on the way:

✔ Stay on the line and follow the dispatcher’s instructions
✔ Unlock doors and gates
✔ Secure pets in another room or safe area
✔ Gather medications, dosages and allergy information

These small steps can save valuable time and give responders the space and information they need to provide care.

Stay calm. Clear the way. Let us know about any changes in the patient’s condition.

School is back in session, which means more buses, more pedestrians and more traffic on the roads.

A few extra seconds of patience can make a big difference. Slow down in school zones, stay alert at crosswalks, watch for children near parked cars and always stop for school buses when required.

Most importantly, put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.

Safe roads start with you. Let’s work together to keep Mobile County students safe this school year.

We're in the midst of hurricane season. Preparation should happen before a storm is headed our way.

🚑 A First in Mobile County EMS History ⚡

Recently, a highly trained Mobile County EMS team responded to a patient in cardiac arrest and performed a groundbreaking lifesaving intervention known as Dual Sequential External Defibrillation (DSED).

After aggressive, evidence-based treatment on scene—including the use of two defibrillators simultaneously to deliver sequential electrical shocks in an effort to restore a normal heart rhythm—the team successfully achieved return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), meaning the patient's heart began beating again.

The patient was transported to a local hospital, where they continue to receive advanced medical care.

For those unfamiliar with DSED, it is an advanced resuscitation technique used in select cases of refractory ventricular fibrillation, when a patient's heart does not respond to standard defibrillation. By using two defibrillators in a carefully coordinated sequence, specially trained EMS professionals may be able to improve the chances of restoring a heartbeat.

This marks the first time in Mobile County EMS history that DSED has been performed in the field—another example of our commitment to bringing advanced, evidence-based emergency care to the citizens and visitors of Mobile County.
