We're excited to share that $8.5 million is now available to dairy farmers and cooperatives through Round 2 of the New York State Dairy Modernization Grant Program! 🐮

The program, which is administered by the Farm and Food Growth Fund helps New York’s dairy farmers and agricultural marketing cooperatives expand on-farm milk storage capacity and supports projects that will improve the transportation and storage of milk, particularly during emergency events.

A good time was had by all at the annual Seneca County Farm Tour last night. The tour showcased agricultural best management and sustainable farming practices that support local agriculture, the Seneca County economy and are our first line of defense in safeguarding our drinking water.

To create a greater understanding of practices occurring in today's agriculture, three agricultural operations in Seneca County are inviting the public to learn more about how farms are striving to remain profitable while being compatible with the environment and aid in efforts that benefit water quality.
The host farms are Peachey Farm, Citadel Ranch, and Wagner Vineyards. The tour topics will feature growing mushrooms commercially, prescribed rotational grazing and manure management, erosion control in vineyards, and a discussion about the costs associated with implementing water quality practices.
The tour concludes with a glass of wine or beer, appetizers, and dinner at The Ginny Lee Café at
Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery. Cost is $10 per person.
Those attending are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes for moderate walking on potentially uneven ground and bring a chair if needed for extended periods of standing. A map indicating the meeting locations and times for the tour will be provided by email prior to tour.
