📚⚖️ A Landmark for Equality

On June 23, 1972, Title IX became law, declaring:

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of s*x, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

This historic legislation opened doors for generations of women and girls, expanding opportunities in education, athletics, leadership, and beyond.

🌈Pride Month is an opportunity to honor the trailblazers who helped shape a more just and inclusive society.

Among them was Pauli Murray—a lawyer, activist, writer, and visionary whose work influenced both the civil rights and women’s rights movements.

Their words continue to inspire:
“When my brothers try to draw a circle to exclude me, I shall draw a larger circle to include them.”

This month, we celebrate the power of expanding that circle and preserving the stories that continue to move us forward.

We’re excited to share this upcoming program at Women’s Rights National Historical Park! ✨

In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, this free pop-up ranger program will explore the powerful and often-overlooked stories of Chinese and Chinese American women in the fight for suffrage and civil rights.

🕐 1:00 PM
📍 Women’s Rights National Historical Park

Visitors will learn about inspiring leaders like Dr. Mabel Ping-Hua Lee— a scholar, activist, and immigrant who led a major 1912 New York City suffrage parade alongside Harriet Stanton Blatch, daughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

Even while denied citizenship and voting rights under the Chinese Exclusion Act, Chinese American women continued advocating for equality and universal suffrage for all.

We hope you’ll join the park in honoring these important stories and voices during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

On Memorial Day, we reflect on the sacrifices that made it possible for generations to continue the ongoing work toward liberty, equality, and justice for all.

As we gather with family, friends, and community, we pause to remember those who served with courage and dedication. Their legacy reminds us of the importance of preserving both our history and the values that shape our future.

has been named to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s 2026 list of the 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.

This isn’t just a recognition. This is a call to action. It is on us as a community to protect it for future generations. 👏🏽

Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, summer is a beautiful time to walk the grounds, reflect on the movement for equality, and connect with this powerful history.
