Expect Partly cloudy skies for most of the day time hours through the forecast period but there will be chances for strong to severe thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours Today through Monday. Monday looks to have the greatest threat for severe weather. Keep an eye on the forecast for possible severe weather watches and warnings.

Today will be mostly sunny with pleasant temperatures. There will be chances for showers and thunderstorms from Thursday through Sunday. During most of the day expect partly cloudy skies with warm temperatures. If the drlyline reaches the southwest counties Thursday through Sunday, then high temperatures will be in the middle to upper 90s. Most everywhere else will see highs in the upper 8os to lower 90s.. Thunderstorms will develop during the late afternoon and overnight. The storms could linger into the mid morning hours. Be weather aware since some of the storms will be strong to severe from Thursday through Sunday.

Volunteer Fire Assistance Cost Share Grant Applications are now open! The Kansas Forest Service administers the Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) cost-share program with grant funding provided by the US Forest Service. The funding is available to rural or city departments that provide fire protection to rural areas with less than 10,000 people.

A weak cold front will move southwest across the area Today. There could be a few severe storms developing along the front late this afternoon and evening, for areas along and southeast of I-35. Wednesday will be slightly cooler. Look for a warm up into the weekend. There will be a chance for scattered showers and a few thunderstorms Thursday night into early Friday morning. Friday through Sunday will be hot with highs in the lower to mid 90s.

A weak cold front will move across the area on Tuesday. Thunderstorms may develop along the front, along and southeast of I-35. A few of these storms may be strong to severe. Highs will only be a few degrees cooler on Wednesday behind the front. Look for a warm up with upper 80s to lower 90s by the end of the week and into the weekend. There may be slight chance for thunderstorms Friday into the weekend.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!!!

Today will be cooler with clouds in the morning but by afternoon skies should become mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Look for a warm up through the workweek with highs in the 80s through mid week, and lower to mid 90s by the end of the week.

Rain chances increase this evening as scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms move through the area tonight. Some rain may linger early Sunday morning with gradual clearing the rest of the day.

An upper level disturbance along with a surface cold front will bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon and Tonight. A few of the storms across north central KS late this afternoon and early this evening may produce small hail and gusty winds. The showers should end Sunday morning. Skies will become mostly Sunny Sunday afternoon. Highs will only reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. Expect a warming trend through the remainder of next week.

There will be a few sprinkles this morning, and a chance for showers and a few thunderstorms ahead of a cold front across portions of east central KS this afternoon. An upper level disturbance and surface cold front will bring a better chance for showers and thunderstorms Saturday night. The showers should end during the early morning hours of Sunday. North winds will keep temperatures cool on Sunday with highs near 70 degrees. Look for a warm up next week with upper 80s to lower 90s late next week.
