(3:25PM Monday)- A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 11pm this evening for much of central and all of eastern Iowa, along with NW Illinois. SW WI and portions of southern WI are also included in this watch.

The main threat will continue to be wind gusts up to 85 miles per hour (isolated higher gusts not out of the question). A couple tornadoes are also possible, along with hail up to the size of tennis balls (2.5”).

Lane is out chasing currently and is just north of Marion, Iowa. The other moderator (Kelli) and I will be posting updates all evening long as Lane is out chasing. He will go live if they get under severe storms. The team here at Midwest Weather has got you covered!

🌬 Strong winds are likely Friday evening into Saturday. This could lead to blowing and drifting snow, causing near-whiteout conditions at times.

❓ There is a lot of uncertainty in the storm track and amount of moisture for this winter storm, which greatly impacts potential snow amounts. Expect adjustments to the forecast!

🥶 Cold air moves in late in the weekend through the first half of next week. This will be our first taste of bitterly-cold windchills this season.

LANSING BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION
If you travel on the Iowa 9 bridge over the Mississippi River from Lansing to Wisconsin 82 in rural Crawford County, WI you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may slow down your trip.
Starting on Monday, Dec. 4, until Friday, Dec. 15, weather permitting, construction crews will close the eastbound lane on the bridge so the bridge rail can be repaired. You will be guided across the bridge with flaggers while work is taking place.
Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
