‼️Weather Update‼️

This afternoon around 1500 hours (3:00pm) a pretty stout storm came through bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, and 0.5” size hail. Multiple calls were answered for down trees all over the City of Seneca with one falling on a dwelling on N Crestview. Thankfully no one was hurt and everyone made it out safely.

There were concerns of a possible tornado touching down during all of this with all the damage noted. After hearing from the National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg, there were no radar indication of a tornado. They did look through pictures of the damage that the storm caused around the Cross Creek area and did state that it looked to have been straight line winds, which can produce damage patterns resembling a weak tornado.

Thankfully no tornadoes and thankfully no one was hurt.

Everyone stay safe and have a blessed night!

Today at 10:41 am. Seneca City was alerted to a structure fire on W N 2nd street. On arrival of Fire Marshal 708 a working fire was transmitted. Engine 74 arrived and their crew pulled lines and started fire attack with Engine 72 securing a 5 inch supply line from a hydrant on the corner. Engine 71 arrived and assisted with fire attack and search and rescue with its crew. Chief 701 assumed command and the lone occupant was located with no injuries. Crews continued to work and got the fire extinguished in about 20 minutes. Areas of the home where 2 roofs were added caused some major overhaul issues. Clemson University sent a truck company to assist and Corinth Shiloh covered the City while we operated. Cause of the fire at this time appears accidental.

Please be cautious if you have to be on the roads tonight or in the morning. With the temperatures dropping the roads will freeze over tonight and remain that way through a good part of the day tomorrow. If you don’t have to be out we suggest staying home until temperatures rise enough to dry the roads out. Please be safe and if you need something we are at the ready to respond.
