🚨 TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE: 🚨

Today during office hours, we are conducting annual fire hose testing. Cash Street will be temporarily marked closed between Center Street and Armour Street. If you need to access Village Hall or the Seneca Police Department, please park on the north side of Village Hall on Center Street. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We are required to test all of our fire hose annually to ensure safety for our firefighters and the community we serve πŸš’ πŸš‘

Nuclear Sirens Accidentally Sounded
LaSalle County Officials are aware that this afternoon, there was an accidental siren sounding in the ten mile emergency planning zone of the LaSalle Generating Station. Officials from LaSalle County and the siren vendor have determined that a piece of faulty equipment sounded the sirens IN ERROR. There is no threat to the public and conditions at the plant are functioning normally.
Repeating- there is no threat to the public.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Camper Fire – No Injuries Reported

Seneca, IL – October 30, 2025

At approximately 12:38 p.m., Seneca Fire & EMS were dispatched to the 2700 block of East 2625th road for reports of a camper fire.

Seneca Fire and EMS crews arrived on scene 11 minutes after dispatch time to find a camper well involved with fire.

Firefighters quickly initiated suppression efforts to contain the blaze and prevent further spread. The fire was brought under control shortly thereafter. Fortunately, no occupants were injured, and no other property was damaged as a result of the incident.
Following an on-scene investigation, the fire was determined to be accidental in nature.

The Seneca Fire District would like to thank all of our mutual aid fire and EMS companies for their quick and professional help.

The Grundy County Emergency Telephone System Board is currently accepting applications for full and part-time 9-1-1 telecommunicators to work at the Grundy County 9-1-1 center located in Morris, IL. We are a consolidated, Emergency Communications Center (ECC) serving fifteen (15) police, fire and EMS agencies within the Grundy County Area.
