Friendship Fire Department

Friendship Fire Department Friendship Fire Department (Station 12) is a 100% volunteer fire department in Oconee County, South Carolina.

Nestled in the uppermost western corner of the state, Oconee enjoys unique views and unparalleled beauty. As just one of many volunteer organizations in the Oconee County Fire Department, Friendship is a community based, safety oriented, volunteer organization. Members take absolute pride in their task, and train for proficiency and skill, while keeping aspects of safety in the foreground of decis

ion making. Called upon at all hours to mitigate many different types of emergencies, members receive no regular pay for their services to the community, and continue to strive to provide the best fire protection and prevention services possible.

All the fire departments in the county need help. We’ve heard all the excuses. I can’t commit to (fill in the blank), I’m not always available, I’m too young/old, I don’t know anything about it. They are just excuses. We are all volunteers. We can when we can and we can’t when we can’t.

This is an incredible job you get paid for in ways that aren’t money. If you’ve ever thought about it, contact the VFD in your area. The hardest part, is walking through that station door the first time.

We all live in the communities we serve. How can you make a difference?

Every fire department across the country needs help.

Station 12 members had a special surprise stop by tonight. All too often, members respond to emergencies, and never find out the outcome of the patients they contact. Especially traumatic incidents and collisions involving transport to trauma center, the special bond created between lifesavers and their patients, is all too often severed at the close of the ambulance (in this case, a medical helicopter) door. Amy is determined not to let that happen, and stopped by the station to reconnect with the rescuers who assisted her in a difficult and lengthy extrication from a tragic motor vehicle collision in Station 12's district a few weeks ago. With her permission, FFD would like to say thank you! It is a special treat to hear about her recovery from her point of view. She is a very special person, and as we continually pray for the others involved, we are grateful for the chance to get to know her!

As always, be smart, and stay safe!

Our membership again asks for your thoughts and prayers tonight as a member has suffered a loss in our department. One of our college student firefighters has lost his mother to sudden onset of illness. She went to be with her King earlier today, and our heartfelt sympathies are with his family as they go through this time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated for his family and their friends.

Further, the member who suffered a medical emergency on scene on Monday is doing well. He stands a long road to recovery but is in good spirits. Your thoughts and prayers were certainly felt, and continue to be appreciated.

As always, it is our pleasure to serve you.

He is currently being treated at a local hospital. We will release more information as it becomes available.
