Have you seen these signs along the Heritage Rail Trail and Hanover Trolley Trail?

Yes, Give Local York is coming! In 2025, York County Rail Trail Authority built the most beautiful section of the Hanover Trolley Trail. Your donation on April 30-May1 will support construction in 2026 of a new trailhead/parking lot! Exciting work ahead!

We are so please that visitors are flocking to the new section of the Hanover Trolley Trail in Heidelberg Twp! BUT parking is NOT allowed along Jacobs Mill Rd. or on any nearby private property.

Official parking is available at Moul Field along Moul Ave. Hanover, PA. See photo below for the official trail entrance in Hanover. Parking on other's property is trespassing and will only give the Hanover Trolley Trail bad relations with our neighbors. Thank you.

While we wait for the snow to melt, York County Rail Trail Authority submitted its Oil Creek Wetlands Restoration Project for a Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence. The project benefits include increased stormwater capacity, improved water quality, decrease erosion of adjacent farmlands, and improved habitat for plants & animals.

Perhaps when those native plants bloom and the turtles and frogs awaken in the spring, the Governor will select this project for an Environmental Excellence Award...tweet tweet!

The wait is over! We’re proud to share that our portion of the Oil Creek restoration and Hanover Trolley Trail expansion is finally complete! In partnership with the York County Rail Trail Authority, our Environmental, Site and Highway & Bridge teams transformed a historic railroad corridor into a 2.1-mile trail extension featuring paved and stone paths and a new pedestrian bridge over Oil Creek. The project also restored the floodplain to its natural state, improved water quality and enhanced wildlife habitats—creating a safer, greener and more connected community.

On Wednesday afternoon, October 22nd, a Jackson Township employee sent an email indicating he intended to place barricades and road closed signs to block access to a portion of the Hanover Trolley Trail east of Spring Grove. The email stated that a “Senior special rifle hunt” was scheduled from October 23 through October 25. The York County Rail Trail Authority (YCRTA) was not consulted on this closure, simply informed of the closure via email.

YCRTA will work to ensure that unauthorized closures do not occur in the future and that notification of any planned closure will be posted in advance on the YCRTA page.
