We are open if we are home... ring the hummingbird bell on the porch :) What is the Little Library & Super Science Lab?
----Background
The LL&SSL was inspired by the small neighborhood lending libraries that look like cabinets or birdhouses with books in them. I thought it would be neat to have something similar with MORE books for kids of all ages; toddlers through teens.
----Why did you open
the LL&SSL? I thought it would be great to have a place that kids could come to where they could always find something interesting to do and a friend to hang out with. The LL&SSL is a place for impromptu playdates with a focus on reading for fun and hands-on learning.
----Are there rules? The main library rule is that EVERYONE is welcome and included. The rules are posted on the Library door and on this site.
----What kind of activities do you expect to host? Pretty much anything fun! We can’t do activities and experiments everyday, but I expect to have story telling/reading for very young kids, science experiments (messy stuff), art and perhaps even classes from time to time on things like first aid or electrical safety. (we have lots of electronic kits). I would also like to invite prospective neighborhood babysitters or others to propose activities. The front porch of the Library is large enough to be a STAGE…. Hint, hint!
----How can kids earn prizes? Kids can earn prizes by completing super-short book reviews or being especially helpful.
