What a great day at our Roadeo on Thursday!

Our employees put their skills, precision, and professionalism, to the test in a series of equipment challenges that showcased the talent and dedication they bring to work every day. Competitors participated in 4 events featuring a backhoe, knuckle-boom truck, side-loading garbage truck, and skid steer.

Events like the Roadeo not only promote safety and operational excellence, but also provide opportunities for teamwork, friendly competition, professional development, and the chance to build camaraderie among coworkers. The winners will represent the City of Sevierville at the statewide Roadeo competition in Knoxville later this year.

A BIG thank you to all participants, organizers, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this year’s event a success! We are proud of the hard work, skill, and commitment demonstrated by everyone involved!

City of Sevierville Memorial Day Facility and Service Schedules

Facility and service schedule changes for the City of Sevierville in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, 2025 are as follows.

•The Sevierville Golf Club and Mulligan’s Restaurant will be open normal operating hours.
•The outdoor Family Aquatic Center at City Park will be open normal operating hours.
•Commercial dumpster collection will occur as normally scheduled.
•The Community Center will be closed.
•City Hall will be closed.
•The Civic Center will be closed.
•The Police Department records division and administrative offices will be closed.
•Water and Sewer Department offices will be closed. For emergency assistance please call 865-453-5522.
•The Sevierville Convention Center administrative offices will be closed.
•Public Works administrative offices will be closed.

To finish out , we take into consideration how Public Works will impact future generations.

Last Wednesday, we had the opportunity to attend CareerQuest Sevier County. This annual event connects students with area business and government entities to explore local career paths. During this event, we had the pleasure of explaining the different careers that makes up our Public Works Department and city as a whole. Programs like these helps our department to inspire students to pursue education and training in skilled trades or public service careers.

In the long term, these learning experiences can help prepare our future generations contribute positively to our city’s growth and development. A big Thank You to everyone who participated!

Continuing our Public Works Week Celebration, today is ! One of our throwback projects would be the paving of our wonderful greenway that travels through our City Park.

This started circa 2014 & has been a serviceable addition ever since. The walking trail at Sevierville City Park 0.5 miles long and connects directly to the Memorial River Trail Greenway, which delivers another 2 miles of paved trail along the Little Pigeon River.

While the greenways are maintained and managed by Sevierville Parks & Recreation Department, our Public Works crews are proud to play a key role in the construction process through jobsite management, coordination, oversight, and paving of the trail systems that help connect the community to these scenic outdoor spaces.

As we continue celebrating Public Works Week this Wednesday, we’re highlighting another important part of the work that often happens behind the scenes: safety. Public Works is made up of many different roles and responsibilities, but one priority remains the same across every department, making sure employees have the tools and protection needed to work safely each day.

Whether working outside in the field or inside the office, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) plays an important role in keeping employees safe every day.

For outdoor crews, PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, reflective vests, hearing protection, and proper footwear help protect against hazards that come with construction zones, traffic, equipment, weather conditions, and other job-site risks.

In the office environment, PPE can be just as important. Items like ergonomic equipment, proper lifting techniques, eye protection, and maintaining a safe, clean workspace help reduce injuries and support overall employee health and wellness.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and using the proper PPE is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent injuries and help ensure every employee makes it home safely at the end of the day.

Public Works Week is an opportunity to recognize the many people and responsibilities working behind the scenes every day to keep our community safe, efficient, and moving forward. While much of this work often happens out of sight, its impact is seen throughout Sevierville every day.

From Solid Waste crews collecting and managing waste services, to Street Department employees maintaining roads and infrastructure, Traffic Department crews helping improve roadway efficiency and safety, Facilities Management staff maintaining City buildings, Fleet Maintenance technicians keeping equipment and vehicles operational, Engineering and Project Management staff helping plan, coordinate, survey, and support projects that shape our community’s future, and administrative staff helping coordinate daily operations and provide support behind the scenes, every department contributes to the services our community depends on. Together, these teams play an important role in serving the citizens of Sevierville.

Public Works employees are often among the first to respond during severe weather events, emergencies, special events, and other situations that require quick action and teamwork. Rain or shine, early mornings and long days, our team remains committed to providing reliable services that residents depend on every day.

During Public Works Week, we want to help highlight the important work these employees perform while also expressing our appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and pride they bring to serving the citizens of Sevierville. As we kick off Public Works Week 2026, we’re proud to highlight a project that showcases the planning, coordination, and Project Management efforts that help move our community forward. This project reflects the teamwork and long-term vision that support infrastructure improvements for years to come.

Our team has been working together for quite some time on an exciting new project that will better serve the Kodak community and the City of Sevierville for years to come.

The North Sevierville Project, located behind the Sevierville Visitor Center, will include the new Fire Station 4, a training room with police offices, a Public Works facility, a fuel station for City vehicles, and material storage areas.

Fire Station 4 will be a fully staffed 24/7 station equipped with a ladder truck, engine, and rescue vehicles to help improve emergency response times and enhance public safety across the area.

In addition to the fire station, the Public Works facility will feature a full-service garage and maintenance building, fueling station, and a large salt storage bin to better prepare for winter weather operations. These additions will help reduce vehicle downtime, improve efficiency, and strengthen the City’s ability to respond during emergencies and cold-weather events.

Every aspect of this project was designed with our community in mind. We are proud to invest in infrastructure that improves safety, service, and response capabilities for the citizens of Sevierville and Kodak.

The City of Sevierville is launching a new, comprehensive app designed to help keep our residents connected with their City government anytime, anywhere.

The interactive app provides comprehensive, important information for all City departments and services, including Police, Fire and emergency notifications.

With the app, users are able to:
• Stay current with City-wide updates and information
• Receive important alerts from the National Weather Service
• Get real-time notifications from City Emergency Management
• Report a concern to City staff
• Pay taxes and water bills
• Submit tips to the Police Department
• And more!

The app also contains useful links including City job opportunities, public meeting agendas and minutes, and social media sites.

Battle of the Litter TOMORROW May 9!!

We're looking for volunteers to help the Sevierville Police Department with the Battle of the Badge litter pick-up! If you're able to lend a hand, we would love to have you join us.

📍Volunteers should arrive at Sevierville Primary School at 8:30AM on May 9 to register.

Juveniles are welcome to participate with a parent-signed waiver for Keep Sevier Beautiful.

Come out and help us keep our community clean-we appreciate your support!
