Sevier County Fire-Rescue Responds to Fatal Structure Fire on Pittman Center Road

Sevier County, Tennessee (July 8, 2026) – At approximately 3:00 AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Sevier County E911 received a call reporting a structure fire in the 2400 block of Pittman Center Road.

Fire personnel from multiple agencies responded to the scene. Upon arrival, crews encountered a fully involved structure fire. It was reported that one occupant was unaccounted for at the time of the response.

Firefighters initiated suppression efforts and attempted to conduct a search of the structure. Due to hazardous conditions, crews were unable to gain immediate access. One occupant was later located and confirmed deceased.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office and the Sevier County Fire Marshal’s Office. The deceased individual was transported by the Sevier County Medical Examiner’s Office to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for identification.

Responding agencies included Sevier County Fire-Rescue, Catons Chapel Richardson Cove Volunteer Fire Department, English Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, and Pittman Center Volunteer Fire Department. Additional support was provided by Sevier County Ambulance Service, Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Sevier County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Sevier County Electric System, which assisted by disconnecting power to the structure for the safety of responders.

As we celebrate the birth of our great nation and America’s 250th Birthday, we proudly honor the brave men and women, past and present, who have defended the freedoms we enjoy every day. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting our nation will never be forgotten.

To our military members, veterans, first responders, and the families who have stood beside them through every challenge, thank you. Your service and sacrifice have helped preserve the liberties that make America the greatest nation in the world.

As you gather with family and friends to celebrate this Independence Day, Sevier County Fire-Rescue encourages everyone to make safety part of your holiday traditions.

Fireworks Safety

• Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.
• Keep children and pets a safe distance away from fireworks.
• Never relight a malfunctioning firework.
• Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby.
• Soak used fireworks in water before disposing of them.

Grilling Safety

• Keep charcoal grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, and anything combustible.
• Never leave a grill unattended while cooking.
• Use long-handled grilling tools and keep a fire extinguisher nearby.
• Clean grease buildup regularly to help prevent flare-ups.

Swimming Safety

• Never leave children unattended near water, not even for a moment.
• Wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket when boating or participating in water activities.
• Never swim alone, and avoid alcohol while swimming or operating a boat.

Heat Illness Safety

• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
• Check on elderly neighbors, young children, and those with medical conditions.
• Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and call 911 immediately if someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or stops sweating.

Location: Sevier County Fairgrounds

We'll have plenty of fun for the whole family, including: large inflatable water slides, sprinklers for the little ones, Sevier County Fire and Rescue spraying kids with the hoses from their fire trucks, and free hot dogs and popsicles for everyone!

Sevier County Fire-Rescue Responds to Early Morning Structure Fire on Garden Hill Court

Sevier County, Tennessee (June 18, 2026) - Sevier County Fire-Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the area of Garden Hill Court at approximately 3:16 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Upon arrival, crews found a working structure fire and began immediate suppression efforts. The fire is currently under control, and no additional structures were damaged or threatened. There were no reported injuries; however, two animals were unable to escape the structure.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sevier County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Sevier County Fire-Rescue received assistance from Waldens Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Pigeon Forge Fire Department, Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, Caton’s Chapel Richardson Cove Volunteer Fire Department, City of Sevierville Fire Department, Northview Kodak Volunteer Fire Department, Pittman Center Volunteer Fire Department, Blount County Fire Protection District, and the Tennessee Division of Forestry.

Additional support was provided by Sevier County E-911, Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Sevier County Ambulance Service, Sevier County Water Department and Sevier County Electric System.

Sevier County officials extend their appreciation to all assisting agencies for their coordinated response and continued support.

Effective today, burn permits issued through the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry are no longer required for open burning in Sevier County until October 15, 2026.

Although permits are not required during this period, all outdoor burning must still be conducted in accordance with all applicable Tennessee Division of Forestry regulations, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) regulations, local ordinances, and all other applicable state laws.

The following safety requirements shall be observed at all times:

• Fires shall be constantly attended and supervised until fully extinguished
• An adequate method of fire control and extinguishment shall be immediately available at the burn site
• Open burning shall not be conducted within an unsafe distance of structures, vehicles, combustible materials, woodlands, or other exposures
• Burning shall not be conducted during hazardous weather or wind conditions that could cause fire spread or create a public safety hazard

Any person conducting open burning in violation of applicable laws, regulations, or safety requirements may be subject to enforcement action, citation, suppression costs, civil penalties, and/or criminal penalties as prescribed by Tennessee law.

Sevier County Fire-Rescue Responds to Structure Fire on Bethlehem Way

Sevier County, Tennessee (May 11, 2026) – Sevier County Fire-Rescue responded to a reported large structure fire in the 700 block of Bethlehem Way at approximately 2:35 PM on Monday, May 11, 2026.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a working structure fire. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire, and it is currently under control. There were no reported injuries, and no additional structures are threatened at this time.

Fire personnel remain on scene working to fully extinguish the fire. The incident is under investigation by the Sevier County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Sevier County Fire-Rescue received assistance from Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, Waldens Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Northview Kodak Volunteer Fire Department, English Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, Catons Chapel-Richardson Cove Volunteer Fire Department, Pittman Center Volunteer Fire Department, the Sevier County Volunteer Rescue Squad, the City of Sevierville Fire Department, the City of Pigeon Forge Fire Department, and the City of Gatlinburg Fire Department. Additional support was provided by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Sevier County Ambulance Service, Sevier County E911, Sevier County Electric System, and Thompson Gas.

Sevier County Fire-Rescue appreciates the coordinated response and continued support from all assisting agencies.

Emergency personnel from across Sevier County and the Cities of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and the Town of Pittman Center are conducting a planned training exercise today, Thursday, April 30, in coordination with Dollywood.

Residents and visitors may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles in the area. This is only a training exercise.

Please disregard any emergency activity at the park today.
