Community Weather & Safety Update for Sevier County & Our Cities

Hey Sevier County neighbors! This weekend looks hot and active across Sevier County, including Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Pittman Center, and all our mountain communities. With summer heat building in the Smokies, we’re reminding everyone to stay weather-aware and fire-safe.

Weekend Forecast Highlights:

• Saturday (June 13): Mostly cloudy early, becoming hot with highs near 88-90°F. Scattered thunderstorms possible, especially later in the day or evening. Chance of rain ~50%.
• Sunday (June 14): Continued warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s. Showers and thunderstorms likely, especially in the afternoon. Heavier downpours possible in spots.

Key Reminders for Our Area:

• Thunderstorms & Flooding: Mountain terrain can cause rapid runoff. Avoid low-water crossings and swollen streams. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

• Heat Safety: Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and check on elderly neighbors, kids, and pets.

• Fire Danger: Dry conditions between storms mean elevated wildfire risk. Be extremely careful with fireworks, grills, campfires, and outdoor burning.

• Driving in the Smokies: Watch for fog, slick roads during rain, and tourists. Slow down on curvy mountain roads.

Sign up for CodeRed alerts through Sevier County EMA for immediate notifications on severe weather or emergencies.

WCFD crews are ready 24/7 for any calls—medical, fire, or rescue. If you see something unsafe, report it right away.

Stay safe, stay prepared, and enjoy the weekend responsibly in our beautiful county!

🐶🎉 Happy 1st Birthday, Chief Blaze! 🎂🚒

Yesterday our favorite four-legged firefighter turned ONE YEAR OLD, and the whole crew at the station threw him a proper birthday celebration!

From helmet photos and belly rubs to plenty of treats (and maybe a stolen sip from the hydrant), Chief Blaze had a tail-wagging good time with his Station family.

This little Dalmatian has brought so much joy, energy, and smiles to Waldens Creek since he joined us as our official mascot.

Whether he’s “helping” with training, greeting visitors, or just reminding us why we do what we do, Blaze is a true asset to the department.

Thanks to everyone who helped make his first birthday special!

Here’s to many more years of Chief Blaze keeping the station fun and the spirits high!

Last week, our dedicated firefighters from multiple shifts stepped up their skills with two excellent training opportunities!

Rural Water Supply (DO111)

Taught by instructors from the Tennessee Fire and Codes Academy (TFACA), this 16-hour course focused on effective rural water supply operations. Firefighters learned critical techniques for tanker shuttle operations, drafting, fill sites, and overcoming challenges in areas without hydrants—essential skills for protecting our community in Sevier County’s rural settings.

On Saturday, our duty crew joined forces with multiple county departments for a productive Multi-Company Training session.

Crews practiced:

• Truck Company Operations
• VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search)
• Search and Rescue of victims during structure fires

These hands-on drills strengthened inter-department coordination and sharpened our tactics for real-world incidents.

We’re proud of our team’s commitment to continuous training and staying prepared to serve Waldens Creek and surrounding areas. Great work, everyone!

We are proud to announce that Firefighter Ian Lanier has successfully earned his National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification and State of Tennessee licensing as an EMT (Basic)!

We are equally excited to share that Firefighter Joslyn Ogle has achieved her NREMT certification and State of Tennessee licensing as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)!

These new certifications mean our team is even better equipped to serve you. This training allows them to provide essential pre-hospital care—including patient assessment, CPR, AED use, oxygen administration, emergency intervention, while deliver immediate lifesaving care at the scene, such as basic airway management, bleeding control, patient stabilization , all the while prepping patients for transport.

Thanks to their dedication and advanced training, the Waldens Creek Fire Department can continue delivering the top-notch emergency medical response our residents and visitors count on—right here in our community.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Lanier and Firefighter Ogle on these impressive achievements! We are incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment to excellence.
