We need your help! Our meal program has experienced a significant increase in operating costs this year and unfortunately, we have currently had to suspend the distribution of the snack bags that we included with each delivery. Although these snack bags are not imperative, they are a good supplemental meal for the homebound seniors. If you or a business is interested in helping support our senior community, please reach out to Ashley at
865-453-8080 or you can simply drop off donations at 1220 West Main Street. We are requesting individual snacks: oatmeal, cereal, granola bars, breakfast bars, grits, peanut butter crackers, soup cups etc. (we can also accept monetary donations for the purchase of snacks)

🇺🇸Memorial Day🇺🇸

Today and everyday may we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country and safeguarding our freedoms. May we never forget their courage, commitment to our nation, their service, and the families they left behind who carry their legacy forward.

“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” -Unknown

As a reminder, our main office located in downtown Sevierville is closed today in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen tomorrow for normal business hours.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the American Legion Auxiliary Post 104 for providing a delicious lunch for all first responders today! The auxiliary hosts this lunch annually as a way to show their continued support for first responders. Several of our deputies were able to attend the lunch and they were glad they did! Thank you to the post members who took the time out of their day to make homemade spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, and just about any type of dessert we wanted! It was absolutely delicious!

For those who may not know exactly what the American Legion does, here is a little bit of information: The American Legion Post 104 of Sevierville main goal is to provide support to all veterans in Sevier County, whether that be financial assistance, assistance with purchasing needed medications, or someone in a mental crisis due to PTSD. Sevier County has approximately 7,000 veteran residents. The Post is open Monday through Thursday 10:00-2:00. Post 104 hosts a weekly dinner on Thursday evenings at 6:00. It's open to everyone, not just members or veterans, for food and fellowship. They welcome everyone to come and enjoy dinner!

As a member of the American Legion, veterans' voices are heard in our Nation's Capital supporting veteran programs and addressing issues veterans are faced with daily. If you are a veteran or a son/daughter of a veteran and are interested in joining Post 104, please contact Commander Barry Franklin at 865-654-2675. There is also an Auxiliary Unit 104, which is composed of spouses, lady veterans, daughters, and granddaughters of veterans.

Today, the Area 33 Smoky Mountain Region Special Olympics Spring Games were held at Sevier County High School! The games were kicked off by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, led by local law enforcement agencies, as they ran from Gondolier to Sevier County High School. A special thank you to members of our SORT Team for participating in the run. Afterwards, the cauldron was lit and the track and field games commenced! The athletes proudly participated in various events such as group and individual track races, team relay races, softball throw, running long jump, and so much more. What a true blessing to see the athletes give their all each and every game. May it serve as an inspiration for us all that despite what life may throw at us, we must arise and accept every challenge. Each year, it is a distinct honor to award medals to the athletes and be on the sidelines cheering them on. We are excited to see the athletes again for the next set of games in the fall!

Proud of our SORT team members who participated in the Sevierville Rotary Club “The Smokin’ Shields Showdown” 5K on Saturday. The club challenged the Sheriff’s Office and Sevierville Police Department to assemble a team and compete for the fastest team time to earn the ultimate bragging rights.

The SORT Team represented the Sheriff’s Office well, as they brought home the win! The community was also invited to compete in the 5K. The SORT Team came in second overall! The team trophy was accepted by Detective Bruce Belitz, who oversees operations of the SORT Team.

Great job by everyone involved and thank you to the Sevierville Rotary Club for supporting local community projects through this event!

Over the weekend, Sheriff Michael R. Hodges, Jr. and the Reserve Division competed against other local law enforcement agencies in the 2026 Battle of the Litter. In total, the Sheriff’s Office proudly collected 93 bags of trash from our area roadways and are delighted to announce that our agency is once again the winner of the 2026 Battle of the Litter! According to Keep Sevier Beautiful, in just 3 short hours, a total of 67 participants came together and removed an impressive 3,220 pounds of litter across Sevier County! We appreciate all of the other agencies and volunteers who came out and participated in the event. At the end of the day, we always enjoy a little friendly competition, but all agencies participated with the common goal of helping keep Sevier County beautiful!
