For the next few days, firefighters from Seville-Guilford Fire Department and Westfield Fire & Rescue will be training side-by-side, focusing on forcible entry for advanced fireground operations.

Strong mutual aid partnerships are essential in our communities. Training together allows our firefighters to build relationships, strengthen communication, and develop a common understanding of tactics and techniques before the emergency call comes in.

By working together and learning from one another, we help ensure safer, more efficient, and more effective operations on the fireground for the citizens we serve.

We appreciate the opportunity to train alongside our neighboring departments and continue building the teamwork that makes mutual aid successful.

The Seville-Guilford Fire Department is proud to officially welcome Tyler Maxwell, Jayden Bryan, and Jacob Jariga, whose appointment date was June 3, 2026, as the newest members of our department.

What makes this day even more special is that this is the first fire department position for all three young men. They are beginning their fire service careers right here at Seville-Guilford, and we are honored they have chosen to start that journey with us.

The future of any fire department depends on its ability to grow, adapt, and invest in the next generation of firefighters. Tyler, Jayden, and Jacob represent exactly that future. They bring enthusiasm, energy, determination, and a willingness to learn qualities that are essential to building a strong organization and continuing the proud traditions of our department.

Young firefighters bring fresh perspectives, new ideas, and an eagerness to train and improve every day. Their commitment to serving others helps ensure that Seville-Guilford Fire will remain a strong and progressive department for years to come. As they develop their skills and gain experience, they will become the next generation of leaders, mentors, and firefighters who will carry our mission forward.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter/EMT Tyler Maxwell, Firefighter/EMT Jayden Bryan, and Firefighter/EMT Jacob Jariga on their appointments. We look forward to watching them grow in the fire service and are excited to have them as part of the Seville-Guilford Fire family.

Congratulations, gentlemen, and welcome to the team!

One Department. One Family. Stronger Together.

Today, the Seville-Guilford Fire Department had the honor of joining our neighboring departments from Westfield Fire & Rescue, Lafayette Township Fire Department, Lodi Fire & Rescue Department, and Chatham Township Fire Department at Safety City for the students of the Cloverleaf Local School District.

Throughout the day, firefighters worked with students to teach important fire and life safety skills that can help save lives. One of the highlights of the program was demonstrating the importance of crawling low under smoke during a fire and practicing the lifesaving technique of Stop, Drop, and Roll if clothing ever catches fire.

Our station dog, Marshal, was a big hit with the students and helped make learning about fire safety both fun and memorable. The children had the opportunity to interact with firefighters, learn about emergency response, and gain valuable knowledge that they can take home and share with their families.

The Seville-Guilford Fire Department would like to thank the Safety City organizers, and the Cloverleaf School District for providing this outstanding educational opportunity. Working together to educate our youth helps build a safer community for everyone

Today, the Seville-Guilford Fire Department pauses to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than a holiday, it is a time to reflect on the sacrifice, courage, and dedication of those who stood willing to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

For the fire service, this day carries a special meaning. Many firefighters have also served in our nation’s armed forces, answering the call to serve both their communities and their country. Their commitment to something greater than themselves continues to inspire us all.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, we ask everyone to take a moment to remember the fallen heroes who never made it home. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

From all of us at the Seville-Guilford Fire Department:
We remember them.
We honor them.
We thank them.

May we continue to serve our community with the same pride, courage, and selflessness they demonstrated every day.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter/Paramedic Alex Bakita on being recognized as a recipient of the Ohio EMS Star of Life Award alongside his crew from Akron Fire Department.

This prestigious recognition, presented by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, honors EMS providers who go above and beyond in delivering exceptional patient care during complex and high-stress situations. Alex and his crew were recognized for their outstanding work during a complex breech birth incident that also involved a successful neonatal resuscitation.

Being selected for this award from such a large pool of applicants is a tremendous accomplishment and a true reflection of the professionalism, skill, and dedication Alex demonstrates every day.

We are proud to have Alex as part of the Seville-Guilford Fire & EMS family and congratulate him and his Akron Fire crew on this well-deserved recognition. Great work, Alex!
