Gloria Brown of Medina, Ohio, who is both a writer and a student of Medina history, has written a book based on real experiences of Ohioans living in Medina County in 1856. It is for readers who are 9 to 12 years of age. The main character is Eliza Garrett, whose father is a successful attorney in Medina. He is also a conductor on the Underground Railroad. Here's what one reader who reviewed it on Amazon.com wrote: "I loved this book and can't wait to share it with my niece and nephew who have been learning about the Underground Railroad. It's a lovely, fun, and heart-warming story, introducing a mix of historical concepts from sleigh rides to community gatherings, slavery, abolition, schooling, and more. It's an easy read with a story that stays with you."
