I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my run for school board. Although last night didn't end the way I had hoped I know me advocating for kids is not dependent upon which side of the table I sit on at school board meetings. I am genuinely sad to see it end this way and I am sorry I was not able to do enough to represent all of you who supported me.
Congratulations to Matt, Danielle & Jill on their efforts and best of luck to them as they serve the next 4 years.

Today's the day!!! 🇱🇷
When I submitted my papers to run for school board almost 9 months ago, today seemed so far away and I can honestly say I had no idea what I was in for! It hasn't always been easy or fun or without its challenges but nothing worthwhile is, is it? I am thankful for this experience, all I have learned and I hope I get the opportunity to keep learning as I serve on the board.
No matter what you believe or what party you align with, voting is a privilege so please go out and vote today!! God Bless ~ Jessie

"If you have enemies, good. It means you stood for something at least once in your life" - Winston Churchill

It seems odd to think it is good to have enemies, but I don't think that is what Churchill was saying, I think he was more saying that you will undoubtedly upset some people if you stand for something. It is a well known fact that we all won't agree on everything, but its lesser understood that having everyone like you isn't the end all be all.
It is not, nor has it ever been my goal to set out to make enemies, but it has always been, and will continue to be, to stand up for what I believe in, and one of the things I believe in, is kids. I didn't run for school board to make enemies, nor did I run to make friends. I simply ran because I saw a need for parents to get involved in the decisions that affect our kids, and if doing that means people talk, let them. If doing what I believe means people don't like me, let them. My goal in running for school board is to be sure our children are advocated for and we are listening to the concerns of the parents in our district. I will continue to stand on that belief, even if it means I may sometimes stand alone.
Our election is in 4 short days, I have appreciated all the support I have received thus far and would appreciate your vote as we head towards to the finish line. Thank you & God Bless
~Jessie

This is not a plug for Pillen, full disclosure, Pillen wasn't my guy, I didn't vote for him, but I do think what he is saying here about school boards is important.
Local school boards have more power then we realize. If they didn't, the federal government wouldn't be looking to label concerned parents at local school board meetings as domestic terrorists. They know the power doesn't lie at state and federal levels, and concerned parents scare them. The power for change starts at home. Is our state Board of Education important? Absolutely! Who sits on it matters, but at the end of the day it is our LOCAL school boards that make the bulk of the decisions and set policies that affect the day to day life for our kids. Who you put in those seats matters. God Bless

~Jessie

As governor, I'll never give up on our kids and will work to make Nebraska schools the best in the country. We need to get involved and vote for commonsense, conservative leadership on our school boards. Our kids deserve better.
