October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and this week, we’re excited to spotlight one of our very own, Loriana Barba-Dorado! 🌟

💙💛 Loriana is such a sweet and caring girl who has a special way of making everyone around her smile! She is incredibly friendly and loves spending time with her classmates. Her kind heart, happy personality, and contagious smile bring so much joy to our classroom. Loriana truly brightens the day of everyone she meets!💙💛

🎤 A Voice for Our Students! 🏫

Last nights Board of Education meeting was a special one! We proudly welcomed our Student Representative, Mark Firlein, as he was officially sworn in and shared his first student update with the Board.

This is an exciting opportunity for student voices to be heard, highlighting the experiences, accomplishments, and happenings across our schools. We look forward to hearing more about the amazing things our students are doing and the perspectives they bring to the table!

🛍️💵 Learning, Shopping, and Smiles in Ms. Acilio’s Class! 💵🛍️
Students in Ms. Acilio’s class enjoyed a fun visit to their classroom store! Each student received a wallet with $1.00 and got to choose a snack to purchase. Students practiced identifying a dollar bill, carrying their wallet to the cashier, and navigating the checkout line to pay for their snack.
One of the best parts was seeing how much the students enjoyed interacting with the cashier! 😊
This hands-on learning experience combines money skills, communication, and social skills in a meaningful and exciting way. Everyone had a great time learning that everyday experiences can provide wonderful opportunities to grow! 🥨🧡

🍂🍬 A LITTLE FALL FUN WITH A WHOLE LOT OF LEARNING! 🧡
Miss Emily’s class at BDC did an awesome job making Fall Festive Rice Krispies Treats! 👏👩‍🍳
Following a recipe gave our students the opportunity to practice important life skills, including taking turns, measuring ingredients, using kitchen utensils, identifying and describing foods, and strengthening fine motor skills through opening, pouring, cutting, and stirring.
Learning is always sweeter when you can mix in a little creativity and hands-on fun! 🍁😋

🎃🍂 FALL FUN, PUMPKINS & LEARNING ON THE GO! 🍂🎃
Our students enjoyed a fun-filled fall field trip packed with seasonal adventures and hands-on learning! 🚜🧡 From taking a hayride to picking pumpkins and exploring the outdoor play equipment, there was something exciting around every corner!
Along the way, students practiced following directions, building social skills, and developing gross motor skills. Pumpkin picking encouraged curiosity as they explored colors, sizes, and the sights of the season, while outdoor play helped strengthen balance, coordination, and physical development. 🍁🎃
Learning is always an adventure when we get to explore, discover, and experience the world around us! 💙

This kind-hearted young man has a special way of bringing happiness to everyone he meets! 😊 He always strives to do his best and is ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. His caring heart and positive attitude make him such a special part of our school community. 💙
Having a bad day? Spend a little time with him, and chances are, you’ll be smiling in no time! 🥰 His kindness is contagious, and the joy he shares with others is a beautiful reminder of the power of a little compassion.

⚽💙 KICKING OFF KINDNESS & KICKING OUT BULLYING! 💙🙌
What better way to wrap up Week of Respect than with a little friendly competition and a whole lot of school spirit?! 🎉
Our students came together for a kickball game to celebrate teamwork, sportsmanship, inclusion, and RESPECT! From cheering on teammates to encouraging one another, it was a great way to end a week dedicated to making our schools a place where everyone feels valued and included. 💙
Because respect isn't just something we talk about—it's something we SHOW, on and off the field! ⚽🤝
