We’re grateful to share that Loving Our Cities has been awarded a $15,000 grant through the Camden County Board of Commissioners to help strengthen our efforts supporting individuals and families facing economic hardship across South Jersey.

As part of more than $278,000 awarded to local organizations combating food insecurity, these funds will help provide groceries, toiletries, diapers, and other essential items to those in need.

Together, we continue building stronger support systems and expanding access to resources with dignity and care. ❤️

Congratulations and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Loving Our Cities Grants Manager Kevin Brown, II, on his recognition as a leader in Gloucester County! Under the direction of Dr. Daniel Jurman, DMin, and Claire Riggs, Brown and fellow colleagues were honored last night at the graduation ceremony, marking their completion of a nine-month professional development program offered by the United Way of Gloucester County in partnership with Rowan College of South Jersey to train, connect, and empower local leaders.

We look forward to the continued impact leaders like Kevin Brown, II will have in Gloucester County, South Jersey, and the world as together we enhance the quality of life where we live, work, serve, and worship! ❤️ 👏 🎉

Perfecting Chords closed out the 2025–2026 season with a powerful performance of The Sound of Music on April 20th. Students showcased months of growth through vocal performance, instrumental skills, and their understanding of music fundamentals like harmony and melody.

This FREE after-school program in the Winslow Township School District continues to create space for students to build confidence, express creativity, and connect through music.

We’re proud of all they’ve accomplished this season. ❤️

The Garden State of Mind successfully kicked off its new season on April 18th with its day of “w**d and seed.” The day brought 13 volunteers from TPC and Gloucester County Certified Gardens together to prep the garden for months of growth ahead. The day was filled with energy as participants distributed all 12 cubic yards of soil and worked side by side to set the foundation for a fruitful season.

Under the guidance of program leaders Geneva Rowden and Carolyn Mattox, the volunteers also gained practical gardening skills and increased their confidence in garden care throughout the process.

See photos from the day below.

This month, we’re highlighting two of our incredible co-leads whose dedication helps power our mission.❤️

Don Hankins
Serving since: Approximately 2014
Why LOC? I choose to serve because of my mother, we didn’t have much as children but she was always willing to share with the community and our neighbors. Her door was always open with a meal or a place to stay, or a listening ear for those in need. Seeing her so willingly help those around us with our meager supplies inspires me to do the same. LOC allows me to honor her through my service on a larger scale.
Impact Goal: The mission is in the name...Loving Our Cities! I am hoping for all those I encounter via LOC feel the love first and foremost, that service is real and there are people who still care!

Jerri Kendrick
Serving since: 13+ years
Why LOC? My area is the Food Panty where I have a passion for making sure people, who are food insecure, have a place where they can be served.
Impact Goal: To provide our pantry clients with food/products to help them supplement their grocery needs.

We’re grateful for leaders who help us bring more hope to our communities.
