Mantua Township Fire Department The members of the Mantua Township Fire Department provide superior service to it's community through dedication to training and community service.

The mission of the Mantua Township Fire District No. 1 is to serve our community when an emergency occurs. We will respond safely and quickly with trained, skilled, and compassionate members, using the best available equipment to neutralize or reverse any situation. We will continue aggressive planning and response preparation, and will strive to prevent the need for our emergency services through

education and community interaction. Our services shall be delivered by a dedicated family of members committed to exceeding the needs and expectations of those we serve anytime, anyplace, any need. Mantua Township Fire Department Station 22-1 is also a combination department of full time employees, part time employees, and volunteers. The department responds to about 950-1000 calls annually. Providing mutual aid to Washington Township, Glassboro, Harrison Township, Woodbury, West Deptford, Pitman, Gibbstown, and Clayton. The department covers a 20 mile stretch of Route 55 from Exit 58 (Deptford) to Exit 48 (Glassboro) both northbound and southbound lanes.

Rescue 22 operated at this vehicle into a house on Main Street earlier this morning. Crews arrived to find the driver trapped in the vehicle, and the occupants of the house evacuated without injuries. Rescue 22 extricated the driver who was then transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The incident is currently under investigation by Mantua Township Police Department.

The Mantua Township Fire District proudly congratulates Firefighter Kevin Donahue on graduating from the Gloucester County Fire Academy's Firefighter | & Il program.

Kevin's hard work and commitment did not go unnoticed. He was honored as the recipient of the prestigious Vern Evans Memorial Award, an award voted on by his classmates and instructors recognizing outstanding performance, teamwork, and dedication to the class. This distinction reflects not only his skills, but his character and leadership.

Firefighter Donahue will be a tremendous asset to the Mantua Township Fire District, and we look forward to his years of dedicated service to the residents of Mantua Township and the surrounding communities.

Another steady day for members today. Earlier this morning, Rescue 22 operated on a dwelling fire in Washington Township where crews assisted interior crews with a fire on the second floor. Crews assisted with checking for extension and overhaul as well as ventilation

Later in the afternoon, Rescue 22 operated on a working dwelling fire in West Deptford. Crews operated as the first due engine company and encountered heavy fire conditions on the second floor. Crews operated for about two hours.

Both incidents resulted in no injuries.

Last evening, Rescue 22 responded into Woodbury City for an ice rescue assignment. Engine 5 had arrived and advised the patient was out of the water and ice, but was down a steep wooded incline. Rescue 22 arrived and utilized a 3:1 Z rig system to a stokes basket to remove the patient. The patient was removed without harm and turned over to EMS for further evaluation.
