Mantua Township Fire Department The members of the Mantua Township Fire Department provide superior service to it's community through dedication to training and community service.

The mission of the Mantua Township Fire District No. 1 is to serve our community when an emergency occurs. We will respond safely and quickly with trained, skilled, and compassionate members, using the best available equipment to neutralize or reverse any situation. We will continue aggressive planning and response preparation, and will strive to prevent the need for our emergency services through

education and community interaction. Our services shall be delivered by a dedicated family of members committed to exceeding the needs and expectations of those we serve anytime, anyplace, any need. Mantua Township Fire Department Station 22-1 is also a combination department of full time employees, part time employees, and volunteers. The department responds to about 950-1000 calls annually. Providing mutual aid to Washington Township, Glassboro, Harrison Township, Woodbury, West Deptford, Pitman, Gibbstown, and Clayton. The department covers a 20 mile stretch of Route 55 from Exit 58 (Deptford) to Exit 48 (Glassboro) both northbound and southbound lanes.

Earlier this afternoon, Rescue 22 was dispatched to the area of Hickory Ave for reports of black smoke in the area. Chief 22 arrived to find a working dwelling with heavy fire showing from the rear. Rescue 22 arrived and went into service with multiple hand lines. The fire was quickly brought under control without any injuries to firefighters or civilians. The fire is currently under investigation by the Mantua Township Fire Marshals Office. Thank you to all our mutual aid companies that assisted.

Crews operated on a working dwelling fire early this afternoon on Bridgeton Pike. The fire was quickly brought under control without any injuries. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Mantua Township Fire Marshals Office.

Congratulations to Firefighter Santino Donnian on receiving the 2026 Firefighter of the Year award from the Mantua VFW. Santino is a huge asset to the department and has been a member since 14 years old. In the past year he has acquired numerous certifications including Fire Inspector. Santino has also been involved in numerous serious and high profile incidents giving him a lot of experience for such a young man! We are so happy to have such a great Mantua Resident protecting and serving his neighbors.

Congrats to our two newest firefighters Andrew and Carl who graduated the Camden County Fire Academy Firefighter 1&2 program tonight. This is a 6 month academy that these two men were able to complete while juggling careers and families. Andrew was also the Valedictorian of the class receiving the Chief James Sylvester Award for Academic Excellence. We couldn’t be prouder of these two firefighters and servants to their fellow Mantua Residents!

Rescue 22 operated at this vehicle into a house on Main Street earlier this morning. Crews arrived to find the driver trapped in the vehicle, and the occupants of the house evacuated without injuries. Rescue 22 extricated the driver who was then transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The incident is currently under investigation by Mantua Township Police Department.
