Have you ever thought about being a firefighter?

The Cochran Hose Company is always seeking interested individuals to join our team!

We are an very active and progressive department that runs approximately 700 fire and medical calls per year. We provide primary fire protection for Sewickley, Edgeworth, Osborne and Haysville and mutual aid for many local departments. We are certified as a Quick Response Service (QRS) and a Voluntary Rescue Service through the PA Department of Health.

To qualify to join, one must reside in the Quaker Valley area. Our multiple categories of membership exist to meet individual needs and desired level of commitment. Individuals between the ages of 14-17 are eligible to become junior firefighters. Adults ages 18 and above are eligible for active, support, associate, and QRS membership. As warm weather approaches it is very important that firefighters stay hydrated in the heat. Cochran hose company is always accepting donations of water or Gatorade.

Busy weekend for the Cochran hose volunteers. Volunteers are now out supporting the sewickley moms club with their annual touch a truck event.

Cochran Hose Volunteers along with harmony township fire department spent their evening training on searches in a commercial building along with hose line advancement. A huge thank you to Harmony Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. For allowing us to train in a building within their township!

150 years ago today (April 6, 1876) a group of 37 men got together in Mozart Hall, with the sole purpose of “the protection of ourselves and our fellow citizens from the ravage of fire.” Thus the Cochran Hose Company was born. As it was in the beginning, we remain committed to serving our friends and neighbors in there time of need. Today, Cochran Hose serves the Borough’s of Edgeworth, Glen Osborne, Haysville and Sewickley; as well as provides mutual aid support to our neighboring fire departments and communities.

It was a beautiful (although slightly cold) morning for the Edgeworth Easter egg hunt. This is a community event that our firefighters love participating in every year. It was great to see everybody that came out today!

Yesterday, Cochran Hose Company hosted the ICS Tabletop class for members and mutual aid departments with Instructor Mike Krzeminski and his assistant Matt. We were able to use Mike’s scaled miniature town to work through scenarios and discuss topics such as scene size-up, apparatus placement, and incident management. Our members enjoyed this unique training opportunity and thank the instructors for sharing their knowledge with our group.
