Congratulations to these seven local industrial employees for completing the Vincennes University intermediate mechanical industrial maintenance course offered at the Jackson County Learning Center in Seymour.

Brian Sawyers, instructor and site director, said this course includes mechanical drives levels two and three, laser shaft alignment, vibratory analysis, intermediate hydraulics and intermediate/advanced pneumatics.

Companies represented were Aisin USA Mfg., Inc., Cummins Inc. Seymour Engine Plant, Nippon Steel Pipe America Inc. and Lannett Company Inc.

The second session goes from 3 to 6 p.m. Head on out to learn about employment, education, training and support opportunities in the area.

This spotlight features Jackson County high school students who participate in Work-Based Learning. WBL consists of sustained interactions with industry or community professionals in real workplace settings that foster in-depth, firsthand engagement with the tasks required of a given career field that are aligned to curriculum and instruction.

Mando Ramirez, a senior at Seymour High School, is doing WBL with Jackson County EMS.
