Last week was a special day for our Sequoia Elementary scholars. Thanks to our amazing partners, Shoes That Fit and The Wonderful Company, more than 500 Sequoia Bears received brand new athletic shoes!

For our scholars, this was more than just new shoes; it was confidence, excitement, and the joy of feeling ready to learn and play. From big smiles to happy jumps, the pride on their faces said it all.

At Richland, we are committed to supporting the whole child, and moments like this remind us of the power of community partnerships in lifting up our students.

The Richland School District welcomed Congressman David G. Valadao for a special visit today!

He toured our Shafter Family Resource Center where he learned about how critical the integration of programs and services are for our families. He observed Golden Oak Elementary School's Dual Language Immersion Program in action, seeing firsthand how the program equips our scholars with bilingual, biliterate skills in the classroom. And of course, a visit wouldn’t have been complete
without seeing the cafeteria and the many options scholars have for breakfast and lunch thanks to our nutrition services team!

We appreciate the opportunity to highlight the incredible work happening across our district and the dedication of our staff, families, and community partners who make it possible.

Together, WE CAN. . . WE WILL. . . WE MUST. . . remain committed to fostering an atmosphere that cultivates exemplary character, academic triumph and individual development.

Our RSD Choir has been invited by CSUB to perform the National Anthem at the CSUB Women’s Basketball game!

Our Redwood Eagles were soaring yesterday—big smiles, bright spirits, and fun holiday memories as every Redwood scholar received custom-fitted shoes through Richland’s partnership with Orlie’s Shoe Drive. 🦅👟💙

Orlie’s Shoe Drive is a local charitable organization that hand-measures, hand-picks, and hand-delivers shoes to children in need throughout Kern County. Even more meaningful, their mission is to remind every student they serve of one simple truth: you matter.
Because of this teamwork, 560 pairs of new shoes were distributed to our scholars!

A heartfelt thank you to Orlie’s Shoe Drive, our community supporters, and the Kern County Probation Department for partnering with our district team—including Redwood Elementary School and our Shafter Family Resource Center (SFRC)—to make this event possible.

Moments like these remind us of what’s possible when we all come together for kids.

🎉Last Friday, families and educators came together for an evening to celebrate what truly matters - connection, learning, and the magic of simply showing up. 💫📚 Through our Attendance Info Session & Dinner, families gained a better understanding of our attendance incentive programs, while advocating for long-term scholar success. 🍽️

And of course, we can only achieve scholar success with the tremendous support of our amazing families and staff from Golden Oak Elementary School , Redwood Elementary School, Richland Jr. High, Sequoia Elementary School, Ignite Afterschool Program Richland School District, Health Services, and our Shafter Family Resource Center.

🎉 We’re proud to announce that our recent Williams Act visits at Redwood Elementary School, Richland Jr. High, and Sequoia Elementary School resulted in ZERO findings! That means our school met all standards for sufficient text books and instructional materials, as well as safe facilities — a true testament to our staff’s dedication and excellence, and of course, The Richland Way! 📚🏫💙
Thank you to our amazing team for ensuring our scholars have the tools and environment to always be Richland Ready! This is what commitment to equity and quality looks like!
