On this Memorial Day, as our nation pauses to honor those who gave their lives in service, the Shaker Heights Police Department also marks a solemn milestone: 100 years since the line-of-duty death of Patrolman George J. Buttermore.

On May 24, 1926, Patrolman Buttermore made the ultimate sacrifice after being thrown from a motorcycle sidecar and striking his head on the pavement. His death was immediate, leaving behind his wife, his son, and a department forever shaped by his service.

A United States Army veteran, Patrolman Buttermore served the Shaker Heights Police Department with honor for six years. Today, one century later, we remember not only the tragedy of his passing, but the life he lived — as a soldier, officer, husband, father, and public servant.

Memorial Day reminds us that service and sacrifice are never abstract. They belong to real people, real families, and real communities who carry their legacy forward.

We honor Patrolman George J. Buttermore.
End of Watch: May 24, 1926.
One hundred years later, he remains never forgotten.

🚨 Pediatric e-bike injuries are now a top 3 cause for ER visits. 🚨

With warmer weather, we are seeing a major surge in e-bikes and motorized scooters across our community. These are powerful vehicles—not toys!

🛑 Remember: All Ohio traffic laws apply. You must stop at red lights and stop signs. Violations will result in traffic stops.
Please review Ohio e-bike codes and stay safe out there! 🚲✨
