Today is Jill Wolf’s last day with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office as she begins a well-earned retirement.

For the past 20 years, Jill has been a steady and dependable presence in our office. Since joining the Sheriff’s Office as an Administrative Specialist and later serving as a Senior Administrative Specialist, she has played an important role behind the scenes, specializing in warrant entry and serving as our assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC).

Jill’s dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving the residents and visitors of Scott County have made a lasting impact on our organization. We are grateful for her two decades of service and wish her nothing but happiness and success in this next chapter.

Congratulations on your retirement, Jill, and thank you for 20 years of service!

The Scott County Sheriff's Office extends our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Tyler Uthe.

This loss is felt deeply across Minnesota's law enforcement community and especially close to home for many here in Scott County. We join our public safety partners in mourning his passing and ask that you keep all who knew and loved him in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Lt. Tyler Uthe, a respected leader, a dedicated servant and friend. His loss is being felt deeply across our agency and by all who had the privilege to serve alongside him.

Our thoughts are with Tyler’s family, friends, loved ones and fellow troopers during this incredibly difficult time. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy as they grieve.

As we mourn Tyler’s loss, we are reminded that even those who spend their lives helping others sometimes need help themselves. No one should have to carry life's challenges alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline for support.

Tyler’s impact on this agency and the lives he touched will not be forgotten.

Deputy Schmitt recently caught up with members of the Great Scott Cycling Club during a break in their ride through Scott County.

As more cyclists take to the roads this summer, please remember to stay alert, be patient, and use caution when approaching and passing riders. A little patience goes a long way in helping everyone get home safely.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Marvil “Bud” Yahnke at the age of 102.

Bud dedicated years of service to both the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Shakopee Police Department. Working under Sheriff Rip Schroeder, he wore badge #16 and served in a variety of roles, from patrolling lakes to providing security at Raceway Park in Shakopee and Elko Speedway. He also served as a Shakopee Police Officer from 1953–1960.

Bud’s dedication to law enforcement continued through generations, with his grandson, Belle Plaine Police Officer Dave Weckman, and granddaughter-in-law, Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Amy Weckman, carrying on that commitment to public service.

We extend our condolences to all who knew and loved him and are grateful for his years of service to our community and country.

Did you know?

Since 2010, the Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Project Lifesaver Minnesota Support Center and SafetyNet Tracking Systems to quickly locate vulnerable individuals who tend to wander. This program provides at-risk individuals who have conditions such as dementia, Down Syndrome, Alzheimer's, traumatic brain injury, stroke, or Autism with a bracelet equipped with a radio transmitter that can help quickly locate them should they go missing.

Our deputies make monthly visits with the families involved in this program to not only ensure the devices are working properly and to replace batteries, but also to establish a close relationship with the client. The hope in these visits is, should a search need to occur, the lost person would feel comfortable being approached by a deputy.

The annual Memorial Day Flag Raising Ceremony was held this morning in front of the Scott County Government Center to honor the servicemen and servicewomen who gave their lives in service to the United States.

Scott County Commissioner Dave Beer and Veterans Services Director Derek Farwell spoke during the ceremony. This year’s honorary flag raisers were local veterans who have continued serving fellow veterans through their involvement with local veterans organizations. The Shakopee Honor Guard also rendered military honors.

A heartfelt thank you to all veterans - past, present, and future - for your service and sacrifice.
