Odd/Even Watering (May 1 – September 30)
✔️ If your address ends in an even number, water on even-numbered days only.
✔️ If your address ends in an odd number, water on odd-numbered days only.

No watering is allowed between noon and 5 p.m. for any address, when evaporation is at its highest.

It’s time to register your dog or renew their annual license, Shakopee!

A dog license is their fastest ticket home if they ever get lost, and it helps keep your pet’s information up to date. Plus, it’s required by City ordinance. There’s also a lifetime licensing option available.

Getting started is easy. Apply for a new license or renew an existing one online through the City’s ePortal at shakopeemn.gov/pets.

Big news for Shakopee!

The City received an application to redevelop the former Best Buy site at 8100 Old Carriage Court. The proposal creates two lots, one for a brand-new Chick-fil-A and a second lot for Panda Express.

Traffic Alert: Starting Friday, June 5, motorists can expect lane reductions on Eagle Creek Boulevard between Marschall Road (CR 17) and Canterbury Road (CR 83) as road maintenance work gets underway.

Project Schedule:
• June 5–6: Removal of existing pavement markings
• June 8: Chip seal application
• June 9: Bituminous fog seal
• June 10: Roadway restriping

Drivers should plan for lane shifts, temporary traffic pattern changes, and reduced speeds through the work zone. If possible, consider using alternate routes June 8–10 to help avoid delays.

Please note that all work is weather-dependent and schedules may change. We'll share updates if any adjustments are needed.

Update as of 9:14 a.m. May 28: The victim in the May 27 shooting has been identified as Khalid Ibrahim Abdi, a 26-year-old man from Shakopee. A suspect was taken into custody at approximately 8:35 a.m. Thursday, May 28, and is being held in Scott County Jail pending charges.

Our thoughts go out to the victim’s family, friends, and all of those affected by this incident.

Update as of 2:50 p.m. May 27: This is now a homicide investigation. Please contact Shakopee PD at 952-445-1411 if you have any information about the involved individuals.

MEDIA RELEASE: This morning at approximately 9:55 a.m. Shakopee Police officers responded to a weapons complaint at Canterbury Park. Officers found a 26-year-old male with multiple gun shot wounds. The victim was transferred to HCMC. He was attending a prayer service at the Expo. We are actively working to identify the involved individuals. Anyone with information should contact Shakopee Police Department at 952-445-1411.

Updates will be posted to the Shakopee Police Department page and to the City website.

FINAL UPDATE: Mohamed Abdirizak Rage, 28, was booked in Scott County Jail this morning on Murder-1st Degree-Premeditated in relation to the May 27 shooting at Canterbury Park. The Scott County Attorney’s Office will be filing formal charges.

The Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) is proposing changes to commuter service between Shakopee and Minneapolis by combining Routes 490 and 493.

Under the proposal:
• Route 493 would be discontinued
• Select Route 490 trips would serve Marschall Road Transit Station
• Route 490 would continue serving Southbridge Crossings Park & Ride
• Riders would gain a new one-seat ride option to the University of Minnesota
• Trip times on existing routes would be adjusted

Currently, Route 493 provides three daily trips each direction between Marschall Road Transit Station and Downtown Minneapolis. Route 490 provides weekday commuter service from Prior Lake, Eagle Creek Park & Ride, and Southbridge Crossings Park & Ride to Downtown Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer, it's a reminder of the freedom we enjoy because of their courage and dedication. On behalf of the entire City of Shakopee, we are deeply grateful.

Please note: Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed one day for the week. If your normal pickup day is Monday, your collection will occur on Tuesday, and so on for the remainder of the week.

The Shakopee Snapshot arrived a little earlier than expected in mailboxes, so some may think the Splash Pad is open now, it’s not quite ready yet. Shakopee Public Works are cleaning and filling the pool this week, and the Splash Pad will open next week.
