School is officially back in session! 🍎🚌 As our kids head out for the first week of school, it's essential to remember the importance of school bus safety. Please stay alert and follow traffic laws to ensure all of our students get to and from school safely!

When you see red flashing lights, remember that all traffic must stop at least 20 feet away—regardless of whether the stop arm is extended!

Let's stay alert, watch out for our little pedestrians, and make it a safe, smooth start to the school year for everyone in our community. 🎒✨

Pushing Forward, Honoring Tradition 🚒✨
Last week, we officially welcomed our two new frontline engines to the fleet with a time-honored firefighter tradition: the Push-In Ceremony!

Welcome Engine 1 to its home at Station 1 and Engine 2 at Station 2. Both are officially in service and ready to respond when our community needs them most.

As part of the tradition, our retiring frontline engines—now transitioning to backup status—passed the torch by using their tank water to give our new rigs a ceremonial wash down before they were manually pushed into the apparatus bays.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this milestone possible. We are proud to keep moving forward to serve and protect our community!

Huge congratulations to our own Battalion Chief Ryan Fitzgerald for taking home the title of Overall Fastest Male at the 2026 Midwest Regional Firefighter Challenge! 🥇🚒

Often called the "toughest two minutes in sports," this challenge replicates the extreme physical demands of emergency response. Competitors battle a grueling obstacle course—including a five-story tower climb, a hand-over-hand hoist of a 42lb donut roll, a hose drag, and a 175-lb victim rescue—all while in full gear.

Chief Fitzgerald dominated the course and brought home the gold for Shakopee. We couldn't be more proud! 🚒

We had an absolute blast today hosting the Wing Dings Little Firefighters program in partnership with Shakopee Parks and Recreation! 🚒

It was wonderful to see so many enthusiastic young faces eager to learn about what firefighters do. We loved sharing our world with them and seeing their eyes light up as they learned all about fire safety and our equipment.

A huge thank you to Shakopee Parks and Recreation for a wonderful partnership! We can't wait for the next one. 👏

🐾 Happy National Pet Fire Safety Day! 🐾

Today is National Pet Fire Safety Day, and it’s the perfect time to ensure your furry friends are accounted for in your emergency plan.

Did you know you can tell the Shakopee Fire Department about your pets before we ever arrive? With our free Community Connect tool, you can create a secure home safety profile that lets our crews know exactly who (and how many pets!) are in your home if an emergency occurs.

It takes just two minutes to set up, but it could make all the difference in an emergency.

We were so looking forward to hanging out with everyone at our tent tonight, but safety always comes first. Please stay cool, stay hydrated, and take it easy out there in this heat. 😎🍦☀️

WEATHER UPDATE: JULY 15TH

With safety as our top priority, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight's concert. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning and Air Quality Alert for our area through Thursday evening, with heat index values near or above 100 degrees expected throughout the day. These conditions pose a serious risk to our production crew, vendors, staff, volunteers, performers, and concertgoers alike.

We know how much these summer nights mean to our community, and this wasn't a decision we made lightly. Thank you for your understanding - stay cool, check on your neighbors, and we can't wait to see you back on July 22nd for Parrothead Paradise!
