CRCI Women's Program Director Highlights Recovery and Women's Wellness at Town of Leland Women's Healthcare Forum

LELAND, NC — Ashley Kidwell, Director of Programs for the Women's Program at CRCI, joined healthcare professionals and community leaders at the Town of Leland's Women's Healthcare Forum on June 3, 2026, to discuss the important connection between recovery, wellness, and women's health.

As an alcohol and drug counselor, Kidwell works directly with women throughout Brunswick County who are rebuilding their lives after addiction. During the forum, she shared insights into the challenges many women face during recovery and highlighted the importance of access to supportive services, treatment resources, and strong community connections.

The Women's Healthcare Forum brought together medical professionals and service providers from across the region to discuss issues affecting women at every stage of life. Through panel discussions and audience engagement, participants explored topics including maternity care, menopause, mental health, healthy aging, cardiovascular health, stroke prevention, and recovery support.

Kidwell emphasized that recovery is not simply about overcoming addiction, but also about helping women achieve long term physical, emotional, and social wellness. Her participation underscored the important role that recovery programs play in improving the overall health and quality of life of women and families throughout Brunswick County.

CRCI's Women's Program remains committed to empowering women through counseling, support services, education, and recovery resources that help individuals build healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives.

The Town of Leland's Women's Healthcare Forum provided an important opportunity for community members to learn from experts, connect with local resources, and engage in meaningful conversations about women's health and wellness.

On Sunday, May 24th Camp UMC hosted a beautiful benefit concert for CRCI — and the impact didn’t stop there. When their group toured Bryant’s Orchard and Grant’s Harbor, they lit up seeing the very furniture they had donated now being used daily to serve residents and support recovery.

This is what community looks like: generosity turning into real, life‑changing impact.

Thank you, Camp UMC and Winding River Lifeguards, for being part of the story. We’re grateful for you. 💙🌱
