Shannon Homecoming is one of the oldest hometown celebrations in Illinois! Our celebration began in 1919 to welcome home WW1 Veterans. Celebrate with us honoring all our brave veterans.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in identifying two individuals believed to be involved in multiple vehicle burglaries in Shannon.

During the early morning hours of Saturday, July 25, 2026, two individuals were captured on residential surveillance cameras attempting to enter vehicles. Several unlocked vehicles were entered, and items were stolen from inside.

A photograph of the individuals is being released with this notice. Anyone who recognizes them or has information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Carroll County Crime Stoppers at 815-244-STOP (7867).

Callers may remain anonymous. Information leading to an arrest may qualify the caller for a reward of up to $1,000.

Residents are reminded to take the following precautions:
• Lock vehicles, even when parked at home.
• Remove valuables and other important items from vehicles.
• Use exterior lighting or motion-activated lights.
• Report suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity immediately.
•
Please do not confront suspicious individuals. Contact law enforcement and provide as much information as safely possible. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Crime Stoppers appreciate the public’s assistance.

We hope to see everyone this week for our rescheduled 4th of July Celebration! All previously planned activities are still on: bounce houses (free of charge), food trucks, the Lions Club pork chop dinner, American Legion flag ceremony, and fireworks at dusk.
