The Equus Effect Program

The Equus Effect Program We teach veterans, first responders and ‘warriors from all walks of life’ how to wake UP and settle DOWN.

Through experiential learning with horses, body-based practices, insights into why we get stuck in habitual patterns and then, we help set you free! We also do one-on-one coaching, workshops and weekend retreats for men and women who want to rediscover their own "horse sense" and write new scripts for their futures.

On October 3rd, we will come together for our 12th Annual Event, this year honoring the Year of the Horse. We are so grateful to host the event at the Highlands Hudson Valley at their beautiful equestrian center in Amenia, NY.

We hope that our local community will join us in person as we celebrate these remarkable creatures and the relationship they have had with us over thousands of years.

In this clip, Jane and Rupert Isaacson discuss the loss of curiosity at a societal level and how difficult it can be for us to feel compassion or resonance without it. Resonance involves us having to step into the unknown.

At The Equus Effect, we talk about awe a lot. When people arrive at the round pen, they don't know this big, strong creature. We are asked to be vulnerable in their presence. And how do we step into that space without openness and curiosity?

Stress doesn't begin as a thought. It begins in the nervous system.

We contract, brace, and scan for danger. The body holds the pattern long after the moment has passed, which is why talking about it isn't always enough.

So we start with the body, and let it find its way to the mind. It begins with interoception: noticing tension, numbness, heartbeat, temperature. Long before we prized the mind, we trusted the gut to survive. That older intelligence is still there, and it can be practiced.

We were thrilled to welcome the Troutbeck team to our round pen!

The team spent some time with Dutch, Babe, Blaze, and Lance working on getting grounded and into their bodies. Their work with the horses made our foundational principles come to life: resonance, connection, attunement, collaboration, and integration came naturally in their interactions.

Connection isn't a skill we pick up. It's the blueprint we arrive with.

Within minutes of being born, a baby reaches for the first meal. No one had to teach us that. Then we spend years learning about everything except ourselves — math, grammar, how to behave at the table. Rarely how to stay connected without giving something of ourselves away.

Little by little, we're trained away from what was natural and needed. We were meant to connect, not predict and protect.
Horses never left the blueprint. For the herd, the survival of one depends on the survival of all. That's what makes them such honest company.
