🎆 Fireworks season is starting across Connecticut, and while we may enjoy the celebrations, many dogs do not.

CT Dog Gone Recovery wants to remind everyone to please keep your dogs SAFE during fireworks season. Loud noises can cause even the calmest dogs to panic and run.

🐾 Keep dogs INSIDE during fireworks🐾 Create a quiet, safe space for them at home🐾 Keep windows, doors, and gates secure🐾 Walk dogs BEFORE fireworks begin🐾 If outside, ALWAYS keep dogs leashed🐾 Never assume your dog “won’t run”🐾 Make sure collars, tags, and microchip information are up to date

Sadly, every year many dogs go missing after being startled by fireworks. A few extra precautions can save lives and prevent heartbreak.

Please help us spread awareness and keep Connecticut dogs safe this summer. ❤️🐶

We are pleased to share an upcoming opportunity to help protect your pets. The Housatonic Valley FFA is sponsoring a low-cost Rabies Vaccination Clinic right here at the school!

We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Cannon, of Millerton Veterinary Practice, who will be generously donating her time as our attending veterinarian for the day.

Here are the essential details for the event:
- Date: Saturday, May 23rd
- Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Location: Housatonic Valley Regional High School
- Address: 246 Warren Turnpike Rd., Falls Village, CT
- Where to go: Please enter at the Ag entrance.
- Eligible Pets: Dogs and Cats
- Cost: $20 per animal - cash only

Important Event Guidelines:
- Safety First: For the safety of everyone and their pets, all animals must be securely leashed or in carriers.
- Payment Method: Please note that this clinic is CASH only.
- Vaccine Duration: To be eligible for a 3-year vaccine, owners must bring proof of a prior rabies vaccination. Otherwise, a 1-year vaccine will be administered.
- Residency: You do not need to be a resident of Falls Village to attend—all neighboring community members are welcome!

Our Aging Dogs:

They’ve spent years by our side, knowing every inch of the backyard and every turn on our daily walks. But as our dogs age, the world they know can start to feel a little less familiar. 🐾❤️
Aging brings changes we can’t always see. Cognitive decline, fading eyesight, or muffled hearing can turn a routine potty break into a confusing situation. Just because they’ve never wandered before doesn’t mean they won’t today.
Let’s protect our seniors:
• 🆔 Check their tags: Are they legible and up to date?
• 🖥️ Update the microchip: Log in and ensure your current phone number is listed.
• 🏡 Supervise yard time: Even a fenced yard can feel like a maze to a confused senior.
A little prep today prevents a heartbreak tomorrow. Love them, protect them, and plan for them.
