Sharon VT Volunteer Relief Effort Volunteer coordination for relief efforts in the town of Sharon, VT. Efforts are currently being based out of the Town Clerk's office at 69 Rt. 132. Pet food.

Meeting times are Friday 10am and 1pm
Saturday 10am, 1pm, and 4pm
Sunday 10am, 1pm, and 4pm

We are in NEED of TRUCKS and hauling vehicles. We are looking for volunteers with any level of skill or ability. If you have any information regarding sites that need assistance, please let us know. You can post here or call 802-763-8268. Donations are

COVER Home Repair provides weatherization and essential home repair for those in our community without ability to pay.

NEEDED: Volunteers who can dedicate a day to join a work crew of their Sharon neighbors to assist on projects on OCTOBER 19, 20, 26 and 27.

All that’s required is a willingness to give one full day, a desire to help, and clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty. COVER provides crew supervision and opportunities to learn basic home repair skills or to share the skills you already have and engage in meaningful work that will make a difference in someone's everyday life.

How to build your own Weather Preparedness Kit:

Have at least a three-day supply of food and water available
• 3-day supply of bottled water, one gallon per person per day
• Aseptically packaged milks (dairy or non-dairy)
• Cold, ready to eat cereal/granola
• Canned fruits and vegetables (preferably low-sodium)
• Canned beans (kidney, garbanzo, pinto, cannelini, etc.) (preferably low sodium)
• Canned hominy/posole (corn)
• Canned baked beans
• Canned brown bread
• Canned soups (no water needed) and stews (preferably low-sodium)
• Canned or aseptically packaged juices (preferably low-sodium vegetable juices)
• Ready-to-eat canned, dried, and/or hermetically sealed meats and fish
(tuna, salmon, sardines, smoked oysters; jerky; smoked salmon; summer sausage)
(Note: high-sodium foods will increase thirst)
• Nut butters, Nutella
• Jellies and jams
• Dried fruit, including raisins
• Packaged tubes of precooked polenta
• Crackers, rice cakes, hard flatbreads
• Hard taco shells/tortilla chips
• Nuts
• Hard candies
• Staples (salt, sugar, pepper, spices, herbs)

We in the Sharon Volunteer Crew are keeping in touch with each other and our compatriots in our neighboring towns. Here are Tunbridge's information points:

NOTE: IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY, CALL 911
POWER LINES DOWN….PLEASE CALL YOUR POWER COMPANY ASAP
• For non-emergencies during the workday, call Wendy McCullough at the Town Clerk’s Office (889-5521). She will be in contact with the Fire Department and Road Crews about down trees, infrastructure damage, and other non-life threatening situations.
• After work hours, OR if power is out, call the Tunbridge Fire Department at (889-3212). John Durkee’s cell phone number is 777-0593, in case you need it.
• The emergency preparedness team is working on plan to provide shelter for people (and for their pets) should it be necessary. Call the numbers above if you are in need and haven’t received different instructions.
• Up-to-date information will be kept on the Tunbridge Volunteer Fire Department page. Please “like” the page ASAP to get important updates.
• “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” is on hand to help those who need an extra hand preparing for the storm. Call them at 889-3437.
• John Durkee is creating a list of resources in the community. If you have items that might be helpful in an emergency, like a generator, chainsaw, ATV, etc., please give him a call so he can take note. Beginning tomorrow at noon, we can be reached at the fire station at 889-3212.
If you can help people prepare for the storm, or might be able to volunteer to help after the storm has passed, please call or email Sarah Buxton ([email protected] or 233-0274). Leave your name and number and she will add you to the list.
TODAY: Be sure you have secured debris in your yard, stocked up on food and water, charged your batteries, and gassed up your vehicles, filed your bath tube with water for your bathrooms. Tune into the news for the latest emergency updates. We will report road
The command post will be established at the Tunbridge Fire Station. Anyone who wishes to assist in any aspect of this hurricane must sign in at the command post. Any assistance is welcome but it has to be done in a manner that is safe for everyone.
