Over the past month, the Sharps Chapel Fire Department has been conducting training exercises on the recently acquired wheeled portable fire pump. The pump was procured by the Norris Shores Homeowners Association and donated to the fire department as a valuable asset for the community. Its primary function will be to combat fires at boat docks, but it also has potential applications in remote firefighting, including wildland fires. The pump is carried on an in-service Engine company for consistent and reliable deployment.
Today, the members showcased the pump’s capabilities to the association at their boat dock. This collaboration between the two organizations exemplifies their commitment to achieving community goals and preparing for potential boat dock incidents. Thank you for your support.

What a great Fourth of July, celebrating America! 🇺🇸

On Saturday Chief Chris Upton and Firefighter Tom Ward joined the Sunset Bay community for their annual fireworks show. We want to thank our community for being so kind and supportive to our department and for using caution each year.

Today our department had the pleasure to present two important scholarships, The Andrew Woods Scholarship, and The Quinton Simpson Scholarship.

Our committee along side the Union County High School chose Hannah Smith (criminal justice), and Bailey Capps (forensics). We look forward to continuing these scholarships for many more years, and hope these students can put the money to good use and knowledge.
We wish them both good luck on their journeys!

Volunteer members participated in S-130 field day exercises to meet state standards for wildland firefighting. As a result, the fire department now boasts six certified state wildland firefighters. This achievement is a win for the fire department, the community, the county, and the state. We are better today than we were yesterday.
After the exercises, members celebrated with fellowship, food, and family at the station. For any questions regarding wildfire safety, Firewise communities, or general inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact us via phone, email, or visit our station.
