The Shattuck Public Library will be closed this upcoming Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. Everyone have a safe weekend and holiday and we will see you again Tuesday morning at 10:00am! We're open until 5:30pm this evening in case you need a last minute book!

🎉 NEW! THURSDAY FAMILY CHALLENGE AT THE LIBRARY! 🎉
Beginning this week, all Shattuck Public Library Card Holders are invited to join us every Thursday at 4:00 PM at the library for our exciting new Weekly Library Challenge! This new program will replace our current all ages activity with a fun, new, 🅱️🅸🅽🅶🅾️-themed adventure.
Each week, participants will take on new and creative challenges based on reading, writing, drawing, creating, and so much more! Complete challenges of varying difficulty to earn 3D Print Filament Vouchers! 🖨️✨ A Super special thanks goes out to the Friends of the Shattuck Public Library for helping make this program possible.
🏆 HOW IT WORKS:
Each week, we will choose the challenge with our BINGO ball roller. Every participant will have a bingo card that librarians will check upon successful completion. Each completed activity will earn 3D print filament vouchers and if you’re lucky, mark your BINGO card. There are three tiers of difficulty which will award varying amounts of filament. The BINGO winner will receive an extra grand prize of 10 grams of 3D printer filament. Traditional standard BINGO rules apply. Visit us to see what all challenges await!

Please take a moment to read this from Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma (FOLIO). E-Rate covers the thousands of dollars for the Shattuck Public Library to maintain high speed internet access. If E-Rate goes, so does our communities' access. We takes bids from LOCAL telecom companies to cover our community internet access. EVERYONE will lose if we lose E-Rate.

Friends of the Shattuck Public Library Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma (FOLIO)

Elimination of E-Rate has been proposed by the FCC. This affects all sizes of public and tribal libraries as well as schools. The Friends of the Will Rogers Library says, "E-Rate is worth thousands of dollars to our library. Without it our library will no longer have discounted access to WiFi and the Internet."

You may comment to the FCC and contact your Congresspeople to ask them to save E-Rate!

There was a lot of interest in the Regenerative Biofuel Feedstock Rule’s guidelines for quantifying, reporting, and verifying the carbon intensity of regenerative biofuel feedstock crops and many have requested the video when it is posted. The recording is now available on the USDA.gov website for those interested. Thank you to those who attended. The webinar was a well presented, in-depth presentation.

It is with incredible sadness that we acknowledge the passing of one of the greatest supporters of libraries and literacy. Dolly Parton was an iconic singer, actress, and reading advocate whose Imagination Library has contributed over 300 million books to children across the United States. She will live in our hearts and on our playlists forever.
The Shattuck Public Library, along with SNB Bank N.A., and the Friends of the Shattuck Public Library have coordinated the Imagination Library for Ellis County Residents for several years and are eternally grateful for the program. We plan to continue the Imagination Library and will honor her memory and legacy by continuing to promote literacy in Ellis County.

Tomorrow is the Regenerative Biofuel Webinar @ 1:30pm. Don't miss out!

USDA encourages producers to attend a webinar Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026 from 2:30-4 pm ET. on the new Regenerative Biofuel Feedstock Rule that will help farmers voluntarily capture new value from regenerative agricultural practices through biofuel markets. The Regenerative Biofuel Feedstock Rule establishes a framework to connect regenerative agriculture practices to new markets within the biofuel supply chain for corn, soybeans, sorghum, and spring canola.
Attend the webinar to learn how the rule will help create new markets for farmers by establishing guidelines for quantifying, reporting, and verifying the carbon intensity benefits of regenerative biofuel feedstock commodity crops grown in the United States. The webinar will also cover a new calculator that measures soil health through the utilization of regenerative practices like no-till, cover crops, and fertilizer management.

We’ve come to the end of the dog days of summer. Did you know that saying doesn’t have anything to do with pets and heat but with the star Sirius that sits in the Canis Major constellation? Yeah, it means “Greater Dog”. Do you know where we learned that from? Well, we googled it, but we have a book that explains it too that won’t suggest you buy the matching set of cat pajamas you were talking about to your friend at work over lunch.

Anyways, now that school is back in session that means we are starting up our activities groups again!!! Check our website (shattuck.okpls.org) under the “Programs” tab to see all of the amazing things we’re doing this year like chess club, sewing club, technology workshops, and more! We have some big announcements coming up and cannot wait to showcase our new monthly library challenge where you can earn all kinds of cool prizes including 3D printer filament vouchers!!!
