..RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 8 PM CST TUESDAY FOR
WARM, DRY, AND BREEZY CONDITIONS FOR NORTHERN, WESTERN, AND
CENTRAL OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN NORTH TEXAS...

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a Red Flag
Warning for increased fire danger, which is in effect from 9 AM
to 8 PM CST Tuesday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in
effect.

* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 80.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* SEVERITY...

FUELS (ERC)...70th-89th percentile...4 (out of 5).

WEATHER...Near-critical...2 (out of 5).

FIRE ENVIRONMENT...6 (out of 10).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

The Flat Tire Fire in Beaver County yesterday is a testament to the exceptional fuel loading in the Panhandle and Northwestern Oklahoma. That fire exhibited extreme fire behavior in a less than critical fire environment complicated by challenging access in the Beaver River corridor. While more accurate mapping will be accomplished today as local firefighters and OFS resources continue to improve control lines and mop up, the fire was estimated to have burned 5,000 acres.

While there is potential for a statewide rain event, dormant/drought-affected fuels will quickly rebound given the expectation of warm/dry/windy conditions early next week. Firefighters will need to plan on limited access due to the potential for soft ground negating normal engine tactics.

Do your part Oklahoma and prevent wildfires!
✅ Ensure trailer chains are not dragging.
🚫 Do not discard ci******es out of your vehicle windows.
🚫 Avoid driving on dry grass.
✅ Ensure that you remain with all outdoor burning activities.
✅ Fully douse any outdoor burning when competed.

accumulations of 6 or more inches are likely across parts of
Oklahoma and north Texas. A glaze of ice up to two tenths of an
inch is possible in parts of southern Oklahoma and north Texas.

southeast, southern, southwest, and western Oklahoma and northern
Texas.

* WHEN...From 6 AM Friday to noon CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Travel may be extremely dangerous.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. In Oklahoma, for Oklahoma road
information call 8 4 4 4 6 5 4 9 9 7. In Texas, for Texas road
information call 8 0 0 4 5 2 9 2 9 2.

Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you
must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will
keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to
reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a
hat will keep you from losing your body heat.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use
extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

12/27/2025

Saturday, December 27. There is an elevated fire risk today. With the extreme dry conditions and winds from the south at 10-20 and wind gusts at 20-25, that is enough to fuel wildfires. Be careful with any outdoor burning and welding activities.
