It’s National Dog Day! This is a big year for ticks, and they aren’t going away anytime soon. Ticks are active in Wisconsin through November.

Seventeen Wisconsinites have become sick, including one who was hospitalized, with Salmonella and/or E. coli after eating alfalfa sprouts from Calco and Everything Sprouts brands.

The sprouts were distributed to restaurants and grocery stores. Check if you have them in the house and don’t eat.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the College of Menominee Nation for the 2026 Community Health Assessment meeting on August 17th. Together with community members, partners, and local organizations, we reviewed key data for Shawano and Menominee Counties across Social Determinants of Health, Health Behaviors and Outcomes, Clinical Care, and the Physical Environment.

After thoughtful discussion, the community helped identify our health priority areas for the next 3–5 years:

🏠Housing
These priorities reflect the voices of our residents and the needs highlighted in our assessment.

We’re grateful for the collaboration, engagement, and commitment shown today. This work moves forward because our community shows up, and we look forward to continuing this journey together. Stay tuned for next steps and ways to get involved as we move this work forward.

As of yesterday, 8/18, Wisconsin is now up to 36 confirmed cases across Iowa, Lafayette, and Grant Counties. The most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is to receive the MMR vaccine. Follow this post for more info ⬇️

With cases increasing, up from two on Tuesday to 15 confirmed and six probable as of last night – you may be wondering if you need a booster.
