This image is not meant gross you out! Nymph ticks are as tiny as a poppy seed which makes them harder to spot.

With tick activity reaching its peak for the season, our monitoring shows nymphal deer (blacklegged) are now outnumbering adult ticks in Wisconsin. Nymphal ticks are very small – about the size of a poppyseed. This makes them hard to spot and remove quickly, which is why they have a higher potential to spread disease.
