🌟 Meet the Newest Member of Our Team! 🌟

We are EXCITED to introduce our new staff members joining our Shawano family! Today, we're welcoming Olivia Danley, our new fourth-grade teacher at Olga Brener!

Check out a few fun facts about Olivia below! πŸ‘‡

⚫️ Olivia is originally from Clintonville and recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point with a degree in Elementary Education. She grew up spending much of her time on her family’s farm in Tilleda, where they raise sheep. She has been showing sheep at the Shawano County Fair since she was five years old and still continues to show in the open class. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working on the farm, hunting, and ice fishing.

πŸ”΄ Why Shawano?! Shawano has always felt like home to Olivia because of her connection to the community and the time she has spent there throughout her life. She has always admired the strong sense of community and the way people come together to support one another. She was excited about the opportunity to begin her teaching career in a district that values its students, staff, and community. It feels especially meaningful to be able to give back to a community that has been such a big part of her life.

⚫️ What is Olivia most excited about in her new role? She is most excited to meet her students and begin building relationships with them. She's looking forward to creating a welcoming classroom where students feel comfortable being themselves and taking risks. She is also excited to learn and grow alongside her students as she begins her first year of teaching. She can’t wait to make memories with her students and see all that they accomplish throughout the school year!

πŸ“£ Welcome to Shawano, Olivia! We're so happy to have you as part of our team! β€οΈπŸ–€

🌟 Join Us for Connections for Change! 🌟

We invite our staff and community members to stop by Connections for Change after school on Friday, September 11, from 4:00–5:00 p.m. at Shawano Community High School!

Earlier in the day, our high school students will have the opportunity to connect with more than two dozen local nonprofit organizations and learn about the many ways they can get involved in our community. After school, the event will be open to our staff and the public!

Come explore the many organizations gathered all in one place. You may discover a volunteer opportunity that interests you personally or find a valuable connection or opportunity to share with your students, family, or friends.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the incredible work happening throughout our community and the many ways each of us can make a difference. β€οΈπŸ–€

We hope to see you there!

🌟 We are incredibly proud to celebrate two of our high school math teachers, Sienna Eimmerman and Liz Alexander, for their commitment to professional growth and excellence in education!

This summer, Sienna and Liz were two of just 20 educators selected nationally to participate in the Teacher Research Community (TRC) cohort. As part of this incredible opportunity, they traveled to Boston University to begin their research.

Their work focuses on an important question: How can we create classroom cultures that foster growth in mathematical literacy?

We are proud to have educators who are not only dedicated to helping our students succeed but who are also contributing to the larger educational community through research and innovation. Their willingness to learn, grow, and share their work is a wonderful reflection of the passion and expertise within our district.

Congratulations, Sienna and Liz! We can't wait to see the impact of your important work! πŸ‘πŸ“šβž—
