⚠️☀️ DANGEROUS HEAT RETURNS TUESDAY ☀️⚠️

Dangerous heat is expected across the area Tuesday, with temperatures between 103–109°F and heat index values potentially reaching 111°F.

Extreme heat can become dangerous quickly. Take precautions now to protect yourself, your family, children, pets, and neighbors.

🌡️ MITIGATE THE HAZARDS
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day — don’t wait until you feel thirsty.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned areas whenever possible.
🌳 Reduce or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities to the cooler morning or evening hours.
👷 If you must work outside, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning and use a buddy system.
👕 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and use sunscreen.
👵 Check frequently on elderly relatives, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.

👶 PROTECT CHILDREN
🚗 NEVER leave a child unattended in a vehicle — even for a few minutes. Vehicle temperatures can become deadly very quickly.
🛝 Limit outdoor play during the hottest part of the day.
💧 Make sure children take frequent water and cooling breaks.
🔥 Check playground equipment and other outdoor surfaces before allowing children to touch them, as they can become extremely hot.

🐾 PROTECT YOUR PETS
🚗 NEVER leave a pet inside a parked vehicle.
💧 Provide plenty of fresh, cool water and access to shade or air conditioning.
🐕 Keep walks short and schedule them during the cooler morning or evening hours.
🐾 Check pavement before walking your pet. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
🏠 Bring pets indoors whenever possible during extreme heat.

🚨 KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS

Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, headache, muscle cramps, and cool or clammy skin. Move to a cooler location, drink water, and begin cooling down.

Heat Stroke: Confusion, loss of consciousness, very high body temperature, hot/red skin, or a rapid, strong pulse. HEAT STROKE IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY — CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY.

☀️ PREPARE • PREVENT • PROTECT

Take the heat seriously, check on those around you, and make sure children and pets have a safe place to stay cool.

🌤️ Enjoy the Cooler Weather While It Lasts! 🌤️

We’re getting a nice break from the summer heat this week, so take advantage of the cooler temperatures and enjoy some time outdoors!

☀️ Don’t get too comfortable, though—next week’s forecast is expected to bring the heat back. Now is a great time to prepare by:
• Staying hydrated 💧
• Checking your air conditioner or fans ❄️
• Looking out for children, older adults, and pets 🐾
• Never leaving people or animals in parked vehicles 🚗
• Having plenty of water on hand if you’re working or spending time outside

A little preparation now can help keep you and your family safe when the temperatures rise.
