What a great crowd last night to hear Tanner Tempel from Americans for Prosperity, who talked about the crucial constitutional amendment on the ballot this August!
Currently, Kansas has a system in which a commission, of which five of the nine are attorneys elected exclusively by other attorneys, send three names to the governor who MUST pick one of the three. If she doesn't, the pick is made by the Chief Justice. No confirmation by the Senate and no ability to go review other names. While the justices do face retention elections, any vacancy would be filled via the same method.
Prior to this system being implemented nearly 70 years ago, Kansas elected our Supreme Court justices, just like 22 other states do. The amendment would restore our right to vote!
Vote Yes on August 4th!
