🚜 Keeping District 1 Moving — One Road at a Time 🚧
District 1 is responsible for maintaining hundreds of miles of county roads, bridges, ditches, and right-of-ways across our community. Our crews work year-round in all kinds of weather to help keep roads safe and accessible for the families who travel them every day.
Road maintenance involves much more than just grading roads. Some of the work our crew handles includes:
✔️ Patching asphalt
✔️ Grading and shaping gravel roads
✔️ Cleaning and pulling ditches
✔️ Replacing culverts
✔️ Widening roads
✔️ Mowing and brush control
✔️ Bridge and drainage maintenance
✔️ Snow, ice, and storm response
✔️ Hauling and packing shale/rock
Completely rebuilding or redoing roads can cost a significant amount of money and is often impacted by factors such as funding, weather, traffic volume, and even construction projects happening in the area. While we understand everyone would like to see roads fully redone, that is not always immediately possible. In many cases, patching and routine maintenance are the best and most responsible options to help extend the life of a road and keep it safe until larger improvements can be made.
Many projects are scheduled based on road conditions, weather, traffic, and available materials and equipment. While we may not always be able to get to every road immediately, please know our crew is working hard every day to improve and maintain the roads throughout District 1.
We appreciate your patience, support, and the opportunity to serve our community! 🇺🇸🛣️
