Today is National Women's Equality Day! We are proud to recognize the many women that serve the residents of the City of Sheboygan in so many capacities from Shoreline Metro to City of Public Works to Human Resources and Mead Public Library. THANK YOU for being a vital part of the City's team and providing valuable and critical services to its residents, businesses and visitors!

Women's Equality Day is an annual observance that marks the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, which guaranteed American women the constitutional right to vote. It reflects the century-long struggle of suffragists and reformers who organized marches, strikes, and advocacy to secure equal participation in civic life. The date traces to August 26, 1920, when Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby signed the proclamation certifying the amendment, and it was officially established in 1971 through efforts led by Congresswoman Bella Abzug.
