Recent changes to the federal SNAP program, known as FoodShare in Wisconsin, are affecting access to food assistance for families and individuals across our state. 37,000 fewer Wisconsin residents are receiving FoodShare benefits since the changes became law, including nearly 17,000 children, according to Wisconsin DHS data.

Here's what has changed:

🔵 Work requirements: More adults must now meet work requirements to receive benefits.
🔵 Eligibility: Some noncitizens may no longer qualify for FoodShare.
🔵 State costs: Wisconsin faces nearly $76 million in additional administrative costs, according to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau.

As these changes take effect, Sheboygan County Food Bank and our partner network remain committed to helping our neighbors access nutritious food when they need it.

🥫 Over 6,600 pounds of food was collected through Scouting for Food in Sheboygan this past weekend!

A big THANK YOU to Scouting America, Bay-Lakes Council for organizing another successful Scouting for Food drive this past Saturday. We're grateful to everyone who filled a donation bag, the Scouts who collected food throughout the community, and our volunteers who helped organize donations back at the Food Bank! 🎊

🎨 A little creativity and team bonding before the busy holiday season!

Each quarter our staff take turns working in pairs to plan outings together. On Friday the team enjoyed a scavenger hunt with clues leading us to Paradigm Coffee and Music for fuel, Mead Public Library with more clues hidden in books and finally Clay Crafts. At Clay Crafts, we painted pottery, enjoyed lunch together and spent time catching up about life outside of work.

It was a fun way to recharge and head into the next few months feeling refreshed. 💚

🦃 Help fill tables for the upcoming holidays!

Sheboygan County Food Bank is collecting hams and turkeys to distribute to local food pantry guests for the holidays. Donating early gives our team time to get these meal staples to neighbors throughout Sheboygan County.

📅 Collection Dates: October 19–November 9
📍 Drop-Off: 3115 N. 21st Street in Sheboygan (Door C)

Donate a ham or turkey, or organize a collection with your workplace, school or community group to help us stock up before Thanksgiving and make sure our neighbors have special meals this holiday season. 💚

A special volunteer project came full circle this week at our Sheboygan Cares Food Pantry! 🤝

Last month, Sargento Cheese employees joined us for United Way of Sheboygan County's to assemble special meal bags filled with ingredients and recipe cards. On Monday, our pantry volunteers helped distribute these ready-to-make meal bags to guests driving through.

A big thank you to Sargento volunteers, United Way and our pantry volunteers for helping bring these meals to our neighbors' tables! 🍝🍲🌮

Scouting for Food is this Saturday! 🥫

Scouting America, Bay-Lakes Council will be collecting nonperishable food donations throughout the Sheboygan area this Saturday, October 17, to help stock the shelves at Sheboygan County Food Bank.

If you received a Scouting for Food donation bag or flyer, please consider filling a bag with nonperishable food items and placing it outside for pickup on Saturday.

Every donation helps us provide nutritious food to neighbors throughout Sheboygan County. 💚

Thank you to the Scouts, volunteers and community members who make this annual food drive possible!

✨ Help make the magic of Making Spirits Bright happen! 🎄

The holiday season is right around the corner and we rely on volunteers to help collect and transfer food donations each night at Rotary Making Spirits Bright. From Nov. 27 through Dec. 31, pairs or groups of four volunteers are needed to pick up one of our trucks, drive it to Evergreen Park, help load donated food into grocery carts and bring the donations back to Sheboygan County Food Bank. Drivers must have a valid driver's license.

It's a great opportunity to give back with family, friends or coworkers while helping us keep food available for our neighbors this holiday season! ❤️

Join us! Tuesday, October 13 | 3:00 - 5:00 pm at the Sheboygan County Food Bank 3115 N. 21st Street, Sheboygan for our first shred event and food drive. See below for a list of accepted and unacceptable items. We hope to see you there!

What to Bring:
✅ Paper only: tax forms, junk mail, checks, file folders, blueprints, photographs, clean paper, file folders.
✅ Remove staples, paper clips, binder clips, rubber bands.
✅ Please use paper bags (plastic bags cannot be shredded) 50 lbs max.

🚫 Not Accepted: 3-ring binders, hanging file folders, cardboard, large clips, hardcover books, telephone books, plastic bags, packing materials, transparencies, ID badges, licenses, credit cards, CDs, DVDs, tapes, disks, backup tapes, VCR tapes, common trash, hazardous or medical waste materials, magnetic media, x-rays, rx bottles, computers and accessories, microfilm, microfiche, paraffin blocks, glass slides.

❤️ Give Back, Too! Bring one bag of food for each bag of shredding you bring.

We’ll also be collecting canned soup, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned fruit, pasta, pasta sauce, hygiene items (toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, etc.), and monetary donations to support the Sheboygan County Food Bank.
