Emergency Dispatchers spend their careers helping others navigate crisis, trauma, and uncertainty. But who supports them?

This important Journal article explores the impact of cumulative trauma in emergency communications and why mental health support must be viewed as a core operational priority, not an afterthought.

The people behind the headset show up every day for their communities. They deserve support, too.

Still an open case from Sheboygan County. If you know something, say something to Sheboygan Countywide Crime Stoppers and stay 100% anonymous.

SHE DISAPPEARED ON A MILWAUKEE STREET. HER BODY WAS FOUND IN PIECES ACROSS WISCONSIN.

Just after midnight on August 10, 1989, Rhys Pocan was last seen walking along National Avenue in Milwaukee.

She never made it home to her four daughters.

Rhys was abducted and murdered. Her head and hands were discovered in Vernon Marsh in Waukesha County, while her torso was found in Nichols Creek in Sheboygan County.

Someone went to horrifying lengths to erase herโ€”and for more than 36 years, her family has been left without the answers they deserve.

But someone knows what happened to Rhys.

Someone knows who did this.

If you have any information about Rhys Pocanโ€™s murder or the person responsible, please contact the Sheboygan County Sheriffโ€™s Office at 1-833-560-2065.

Her daughters deserve answers.

Rhys deserves justice.

Please share. Someone may recognize a name, remember a detail, or finally have the information investigators need.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is underway, and the message is simple: If you drink, donโ€™t drive.

Our deputies will be out working to keep impaired drivers off our roads and help prevent crashes, injuries, and lives lost. But enforcement is only part of the solution.

If you plan to drink, make a plan before you go:
๐Ÿบ Choose a designated driver
๐Ÿ“ฑ Use a rideshare or taxi
๐Ÿ  Stay with a friend or make arrangements for a safe ride home
๐Ÿ”‘ Never get behind the wheel impaired

A few seconds of poor judgment can change a familyโ€™s life forever.

Enjoy your night. Make the right choice. Get home safely.

The Communications Center would like to wish all students a safe and fun 2026-2027 school year! ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸšŒ

But they aren't the only ones "going back to school."

Not only do new hires have about 6 months of training before they are considered full-fledged dispatchers/communications officers, but every year our team is required to complete 24 hours of Continuing Dispatch Education for our EMD certification and 16 hours of Inservice (Topics for Inservice vary from protocol updates/refreshers, to touring parts of the County, and even sitting in with Patrol for their Inservice days). We also take recertification tests to fulfill WIDOJ standards and keep our CPR certifications up to date.

And all of the above is the mandatory part of our team's training! All of our dispatchers take turns going to other optional training classes they have an interest in to help hone their skills and knowledge.
